It's Kazuya and Nina against Ryu and Chun Li in these SF x Tekken screens

Two of the biggest fighting game franchises set to collide, and naturally, the publishers from both sides are going to get the big name fighters into the spotlight. The stars in these screens for Street Fighter X Tekken are veterans Ryu and Chun Li taking on Kazuya and Nina.

Street Fighter X Tekken will feature tag team battles as well as your usual 1-on-1 versus mode. The Kings of the Iron Fist are no stranger to tag battles, so they can go toe-to-toe against the SF crowd when it comes to assist attacks and special combos. Franchise masters Yoshinori Ono (Street Fighter) and Katsuhiro Harada (Tekken) will be working together to make it happen.

“This is history we're making," said Yoshinori Ono. "Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn't just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I'm going to give it my all.”

I'm sure TekkenxStreetFi ghter will have Tekken-style graphics since it has Tekken gameplay elements.

I see it as each company is making the same game, but with their own particular fighting mechanic style and art style.

The two games seem like they'll be similar, yet vastly different in the end.
Such as, SFxTekken, will (assuming from these screenshots) play as SFIV does, and TekkenxSF will play more like Tekken 6, based on that assumption.

Just curious, but ~assuming~ my idea is correct, which would you prefer?

The Street Fighter IV art style and game mechanics? (2D, single plane movement)
Or the Tekken 6 art style and game mechanics? (3D, 8 directional movement)

That's a tough one for me. I'd most likely get them both, but I know I'll be getting SFxT first, simply because I've been playing a shit ton of 2D fighting games lately and I don't want to change that yet.

i'm concerned how controls, physics, and balancing would go.. how moves will be executed and how combos can be done is a big deal for both games

the sf vs tekken will run on the street fighter engine and the tekken vs sf will run on the tekken engine

SF players don't have multiple hit combos if you know what i mean.
On the other hand Tekken Fighters do have COMBOS

What they're doing here is similar to what they did with Capcom vs. SNK and SNK vs. Capcom. Both company's will build a version to appeal to their respective fans and try to gain new fans due to the crossover. Great strategy. I wouldn't have played too many of the SNK games if not for the crossovers.

Im definately buying SFxTekken and TekkenxSF first day. im more excited for Tekken X SF though, I love Tekken 6's style more then SF4's
