Inafune: TGS 2010 games are awful

Not everyone's impressed with what's being shown at the Tokyo Game Show apparently. Keiji Inafune has been quoted as saying that so far, all he's been seeing on the show floor are "awful games".

In an interview during the event, Capcom's big man expressed his disappointment with the games lineup for this year's Tokyo gaming shindig. I look around Tokyo Games Show, and everyone’s making awful games; Japan is at least five years behind."

"Capcom is barely keeping up. I want to study how Westerners live, and make games that appeal to them.” he further revealed.This is not the first time that Inafune expressed his dismay over the plight of the Japanese gaming industry. Previously, he's been reported as forecasting that their industry is basically "finished".

I would have to say I kinda agree with Inafune.But one thing that's completely messing up game's today is this.There to short and the story suck's. Plus where's the reply value?.Also there's to many First Person Shooter's!.I think they need to go back to when game's were really good now there becoming the same thing!

He's absolutely right. TGS has a rather poor lineup for games. Seems any decent games that could be announced were done at E3... and even then only a handful were of decent quality worth paying attention too. I'm actually saddened to see the lack of epic games being released lately... it's as if the industry is running out of ideas and creativity...

Why are all fucking japanese games Devil May Cry clones nowadays? They sucked back when DMC came out, and they suck today. Brainlessness in its highest caliber. The top tier of shitty games.

I say ban them. And what I say, goes.

In one word, formulaic. Both industries keep producing the same and unfortunately, they keep selling their respective countries. We can only wait for a gem by Team Ico.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for the tag battles, is something that interests me.

But Namco should definitely add this to the team battles not make on its own for profit excuses.

if inafune means that in the way theres too many shooters then yes i agree with him but in any other genre there is still much more the industry can expand on as the technology gets better just need the ideas ive seen some games around im interested trying i think both sides are coming out with games were all waiting for in any sense

First, why did those comments about FPSes get thumbs downs, second Dissidia FF2 looks great in my opinion, third games don't need stories, but when included are very nice, and last but not least all of the game devs seem to be wrong, they just aren't being creative enough anymore, that's all. I mean games used to be considered great because they were genre starters and they had these awesome stories. However people can't think now, and they just copy other stories/genre gameplay or completely get rid of them leaving us with bland games. They don't need to change the direction of the games to be more western based, they only need to try to think more about what hasn't been done, most of us have the ability to imagine, yet we don't use it.

i think he totally forgot about Project Dark, Last Guardian, GT5, Okamiden, Castlevania, Agito, 3rd Birthday, ni no kuni anhd i guess catherine (i guess /shrug)

He might be right, but studying western games isn't the answer.

Square has been shitting their own bed for at least a decade by stupidly trying to make their games more "hollywood".

Capcom has never been all that great anyway.

This is like hearing lady gaga saying that new music sucks.

I dont think it is either.

There's lots of good stuff out there.

I'm not sure if there has been any drastic evolutions in gameplay recently.

But even if its time honored and proven formulas that are being further updated and polished with more horsepower and experience, thats easily as important to a fun gaming library as new experimentation is.

I've Not Really Been Bothered to look at this years TGS nothing IMO had really impressed me or caught my attention.... so until they bring out a Final Fantasy thats old skool like FF7 - 9 on the PSX and an original Resident Evil with set camera angles and puzzles (non of this 3rd person over the shoulder shit)then maybe i'll be interested again until then pffft
