Heads up: three big releases now officially on retail

Smell that morning air? That's the smell of new games on the store shelves...and the subsequent emptying of your wallet. Just a quick heads up as you go through your day-to-day stuff - if you're in North America, three big releases are now waiting for you down at your local gaming store.

You've probably marked your calendars already, but for those who might need a reminder, Final Fantasy XIII isn't the only game officially coming out today. Right there to share the Day 1 sales is Yakuza 3, after spending forever in localization limbo. And for the rest who don't have Resident Evil 5 until now, Gold Edition will come with the additional scenarios and characters that have popped into the online stores over the last few weeks.

Since FFXIII got butchered thanks to Microsoft. I know Square said it didn't get butchered but thats cause MS paid them off. How the fuck can you have an FF game with no towns or backtracking. WTF!!!! It's obviously because if you backtrack you will need to change discs often and that would ruin the "experience". Why no towns. Towns = more character models, more speech, more everything. One thing though is apparently PS3 uses game rendering for some parts and for those same parts Xbox 360 uses Bink. Supposedly cause the Xbox can't handle it or something.

Microsoft paid off Square after development was past half way. Your logic is flawed if you think it's Microsoft's fault there are no towns.

I blamed MS at first too, but then realized that it's more of the devs fault. They could have done the game like the PS1 days but because they wanted their "new" experience look what happened. I hope Versus 13 will revive the franchise.

About the "new" experince in FFXIII...

I think it may disappoint you to hear this old quote from (Tetsuya Nomura): -
"FFXIII will continue the underlying traditions of the Final Fantasy series, but Versus XIII will go far beyond the traditions."

So, he is developing Versus to bring new experience as he want to experiment something new in it not like the classic route were taken in FFXIII.

Microsoft: Okay we'll pay you lots of money if you bring the game to Xbox 360 and make it so the experience is as close as possible.

Square Enix: Okay we will do everything possible even if its to scrap some stuff we already did.

That and the first two titles are top notch. If you have a ps3 fat or ps2 I'd suggest giving them a go.

You can't blame MS for the way FF XIII is. My buddy works at Square Enix in Japan so I get the info from him directly on what the truth is behind the office doors. This also shows (as if we already didn't know) that you can never trust what a company says, it's all BS.

Square says there are no differences before anyone really can see the game....after the game launches xbox 360 runs at 576p and ps3 at 720p....among other things.

Still FF is amazing, i'm bout 7 hours in....yet I lost some respect for square as a company

720p? Is that native resolution because I just bought the game and it runs at 1080p standard?
