Harmonix lets you "Go Pro" in Rock Band 3 |
Listed in: Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 Tags: Harmonix, rock band 3

Now that we've seen the first screenshot, it's about time we turn our focus over to a bigger chunk of the game - the gameplay. Harmonix is adding the option of taking your skills to the next stage with the scalable Rock Band Pro gameplay, as well as a new keyboard instrument to expand the band.
For the previous games, you had the solo vocals, drums, guitar, and bass. Harmonix is adding two more vocals to make three-part vocal harmonies, plus a new keyboard - you band can now have up to seven members.
Rock Band 3 also offers new levels of difficulty for the players. From just-for-fun casual, to actually playing the instruments. Time to grow out of the buttons - the game will also come with fully functional six-stringed guitars that double as game controllers.
- Pro Drums supports three expansion cymbals, with gameplay differentiation between toms and cymbals.
- Pro Keys features pitch-accurate keyboard performance across a two-octave range, displayed on an easy-to-read keyboard track.
- Pro Guitar features notated guitar and bass performances, available for play with either the new Fender Mustang PRO-Guitar simulated guitar controller from Mad Catz or the Rock Band 3 Squier by Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller that is a real guitar/controller hybrid. The Rock Band 3 Squier Stratocaster is a fully functional, full-sized, six-string electric guitar that also functions as a game controller.
If you're really into it, there are over 700 goals and rewards in the game's revamped career mode, plus a few new tweaks to make the casual playing easier to pick up.

so in otherwords, 7 is not the maximum number of players for the console (just the number of bluetooth connection allowed). since most of the RB peripherals are wired (for 3 mics, which requires only 1 DS3/sixaxis controller) or wireless (USB dongles for Guitar, Bass, Drum, Keyboard) and does not use bluetooth (other than the required DS3/sixaxis controller).

But I was curious if Harmonix really means 7 total players, as in 7 characters on screen as well. I'm currently pending and e-mail about it. If we really can have 7 players than RockBand Parties amongst my friends are going to totally start again :)
