Guild Wars 2, Blade & Soul console development confirmed

Truth be told, I hadn't heard of console development plans for Blade & Soul and Guild Wars 2 until now, but apparently everything's now going smoothly. This according to a report from MMOSite.

NCsoft CEO Kim Taek Jin confirmed console development during a conference call yesterday. NCsoft had apparently been looking into possible console development for their MMORPGs last year, although at the time they declined to confirm it outright. Kim clarified however that they still haven't finalized any marketing plans for the games' console versions.

Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul are both slated for release next year. Kim also confirmed during the conference call that Blade & Soul's open beta would start in the first half of 2010.

[UPDATE] ArenaNet community manager Regina Buenaobra has clarified that only a very small team is currently looking into developing Guild Wars 2 for consoles and that there are no definite plans for a console port at this time. The bulk of thew development team is still focued on the PC version.

Guild Wars was worth the money, since you pretty much only just buy the game itself. MAG bills itself as a 256 player MMO, but MMOs.. maybe a thousand can be on! (I'm referring to WoW anyway). It's just an awesome thought that there are hundreds of people from all over the world playing in the same game universe with you, interacting with you, trying for the same goals

It's just lame that the max lvl cap is 20 :( (if it still goes to the first series anyway)

It actually costs 5-6 million dollars to play MMOs over the course of your lifetime. Estimates were made that if you used all the lost time wisely instead of playing MMOs you could become an MD or other highly regarded professional and make upwards of $200k/year. You would also have better dating opportunities than overweight or underweight nerd. Girls really don't dig gamers. Gamers are antisocial and is not a respected time pasture.

Explain how 15 per month cost 5-6 million dollars over a person's lifetime. You want to call people nerds, but you came to this site just looking for attention. I feel that it is you who are struggling in your own dating life. It's pretty pathetic that you visit gaming sites with the sole purpose of boosting your own ego. On another note, I hope Guild Wars 2 succeeds for all the work they're putting in.

It's a hyped up rumor.

ArenaNet have confirmed that they are merely looking into MAYBE doing a console version.

MMOSite is pure garbage, they do anything they can to get link-backs and views, including completely warping the truth.

That's Blade & Soul art actually, although it is from the same artist who did the art for Magna Carta.
