Rockstar Games has announced that due to a last minute game submission request from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to edit some in-game contents, the Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City for both the PS3 and PC will be delayed for an extra two weeks. According to the publishers blog post:

The new release date for Episodes from Liberty City - and the two downloadable episodes The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony - on those platforms is now April 13th in North America and April 16th in Europe.  This new date will enable us to rectify these changes for Sony Europe, and still allow for a level playing field for all of the Grand Theft Auto fans that have been waiting patiently for this release.  In the meantime, we’re moving full speed ahead towards the new game release date.  On that note – please be aware that the Grand Theft Auto IV PlayStation 3 leaderboards at Rockstar Games Social Club will be down for maintenance for one week starting March 22nd as we work on their re-launch in support of Episodes from Liberty City.

Unfortunately, with each round of changes comes fully re-testing the game and a full re-submission to PlayStation.  This is the nature of the game submission process.  Believe us, if we could expedite the turnaround any sooner – we would.  We are dying to get this game in the hands of fans who’ve waited for it for so long in the first place.

There are different regional requirements for content – whether dictated by ratings boards like the ESRB and BBFC or by SCEE – this is pretty standard in the world of entertainment.

This was a tough decision but with a simultaneous release, everyone can experience multiplayer simultaneously, take part in online events together, be on level ground on leaderboards, etc.

The first Episodes events for those systems will now be on April 16th and 17th.  We will most likely replace the originally scheduled early April events with one for another game.  Any requests?

Are you sure? Europe is generally a lot more relaxed when it comes to attitudes towards sex than the States, so if it was released over there, I don't see why it would be censored over here.

Maybe in Australia, though.

If I was a PS3 user I would be extremely annoyed by this news! Not only did you have to wait for this content due to the masterminds at Microsoft making this exclusive to THE XBOX 360 (and rightly so! One of greatest DLC deserves to be on the best games console ever!) but now you have to wait while they changes. You will probably receive a lesser version that what you get on THE XBOX 360. Seriously are you guys actually going to pay for old content? Your not that stupid surely although you did buy PS3. Well done Microsoft for exclusive DLC, Well done indeed!

Umm, why would they less anything out on the PS3 when FF13 had to be on 3 disc for XBOX? See fan boys like you have nothing against other consoles. I don't see how people like you think they know anything. How bout this delay means they would add more?

The 3 disc version of Final Fantasy 13 was a great move by Microsoft. Just think of all the exclusive content that is crammed onto them 3 discs, while PS3 users get shafted again with a standerd 1 disc. Well done Microsoft, Well done indeed!

lmao @ mister commonsense.. u seem to have none of that common sense at all in use... call me a fanboy, but i did have a 360.. and if u really wanna use common sense then u will never buy a 360 and say well done to microsoft cuz it was never well done..

a single layer ps3 blu-ray disc still has more memory/space than 3 xbox 360 dual layer discs combined... sorry to spill it man but we both basically got the same amount of things from ff13... but still thanks to microsoft and the 360 i get my eggs well done now... that cpu and gpu is really useful... :-)

That doesn't make any sense, Mr. Common Sense. If the game is say 18 gigs, uncompressed, and it's split onto three 6.5 gig disks, that leave you litterally no room for 'exclusive content' as opposed to the 50 gig Blu ray disk still having 30 gigs left.

What are you talking about?

But I do agree with you about not paying for it. Too little too late. I'm not going to dig out a game I haven't played in years just for this...

What has changed? SCEE wants to add something to the game which wasn't there from the start, and now it will take two weeks to implement it. Two weeks is nothing considering we've wanted the DLC since 2008 so I don't really mind, but I really want to know the changes made. Does it have anything to do with Move? With trophies? With some kind of future FW thingy?

No it has nothing to do with those reasons you mention. They are taking out some of the missions as they are Microsoft owned. While PS3 and PC is getting these expansions, they are very much watered down version of the XBOX 360s exclusive DLC. Unfortunatly for you guys the only way to play the DLC the way RockStar wanted us is to play it on XBOX 360. Well Done Microsoft, Will done indeed!!

You mean "Well done massive amounts of money to buy exclusive rights and stop the competition pre-emptively, with juvenile monetary tactics, well done indeed."

He has got to fabricate shit. He is probably just bored because he had to send his fucking XBOX 360!!!!11!!11!1!!11 back to microsoft so they could fix the inevitable red ring that he got, AGAIN. so, he has to bash sony users to make himself feel better, and in turn try to show off his e-peen.

seriously guy, grow the fuck up and gtfo of a section that you so dearly hate. im not any fan boy or anything, but sittin here reading what you are saying is like hearing a MS exec speak. its boring and cluttered.

If you really thought that this theory is correct, you're knee deep in shit. And it's probably your brains that have leaked out.

If it was SCEE who wanted to ADD something, WHY would it be deleting old missions? Imagine Sony saying "hey... Rockstar, we've come with this request for you, we actually don't want to have a good game, so, could you delete half of the missions for us, please? I mean, it was for the 360 from the start so we don't really think we deserve the DLC at all. In fact, if you feel like it, why don't you just scrap the whole game. Yeah, that would be the best. Xbox rulz!!".

I wish the ESRB would stop being ridiculous and that stores would be more open to selling AO games. I could go to FYE when I was 16 and check out porn and buy the Saw movie collection, but I can't see a little pixelated nudity? Come on now!

Whats that got to do with it? this has nothing to do with ESRB or the american rating system in anyway.

:D I love how he told old boi off because he tlks as if he knows what he is taking about because Microsoft does not own any rights to any of the missions simply because they can't own something copywrited, developed, and writen by another company! He is such a dumbass! Next time don't post something that doesn't make any (COMMON) SENSE! ;-) P.S. I will be buyin it just to let you all know, I love GTA series so Rockstar keep them comin!
