Every year, the Game Developers Conference provides an avenue for industry professionals to learn from and share their expertise with fellow game makers big and small. There's going to be more of that this year, and as always, the hot topics will revolve around some of the past year's major accomplishments.

For Blizzard, Tom Chilton will be discussing the success behind World of Warcraft and its latest expansion, Cataclysm. In "Remaking the World Of Warcraft through Cataclysm," the game director shares "what approach we took, what works, and what doesn't seem to work when tackling the challenge of breathing new life into aging game content" and how they "rejuvenated aging parts of the game world for existing, former, and new players while at the same time preserving and even enhancing what made the game world special from the start."

Cataclysm sold over 4.7 million copies in month after its December release, so if it's a successful formula you'd want to learn from, that'd be worth tuning into.
