Whether you love or hate the design of Sony's Next Generation Portable, Sony isn't exactly the only one you need to direct your appreciation (or ire) towards.
According to MotorStorm Apocalypse developer Evolution Studios, game developers also had a hand in shaping the successor to the PlayStation Portable.

Evolution studio director Matt Southern told NowGamer in an interview that instead of designing the handheld completely internally and letting devs just work with what Sony came up with, the development process for the NGP was more of a two-way street.
"We’ve all been looking at odd-looking devices with wires sticking out them since an early date, because with the commencement of research on NGP, Sony really changed its approach so that it was much more developer-driven," said Southern

NGP on Sony's hand may be destined to fail, but I suppose they will use their heads this time cause if they loose, no profit will be made.

There are games on the iPad and iPhone and iPod Touch that are outselling anything on Sony's systems right now save for Monster Hunter.
If anything, the NGP will be about as "dedicated" to gaming as the iOS systems are.

Played on iPhone/iPod and never liked it.
It has good graphics, but shit, good graphics don't make it a good game.

But they're like "toilet rolls," right? So that shouldn't matter.

On topic, I remember hearing something like this for the ps3 and ps2, and then usually a couple of years after their releases comes developers saying they're crap to work with. Too difficult to programme with.
