When the last Star Trek television series, Enterprise, left the air last year, a pundit in our local newspaper wrote an editorial. While I don't remember the exact wording, the message was this: "Thank goodness we're finally rid of those ridiculous fairy tales that the late Gene Roddenberry planted in the heads of an entire generation." .

Well, excuse me, but current events notwithstanding,  I believe in Gene Roddenberry's vision. With every fiber of my being. As  Edith Keeler said in TOS episode The City On The Edge of Forever: "Those are the days worth living for." I think the vast majority of the people in the world are ready for us as humanity to (as Captain Picard put it in TNG episode, The Neutral Zone), "grow out of our infancy" and travel to the stars (though I'll settle for the planets, for now).

That said, kudos to Perpetual Entertainment for keeping Gene Roddenberry's vision alive for all of us in their upcoming MMORPG, Star Trek:Online. Although they haven't yet given us a release date, we did find these screenshots - our first look at a starship's exterior. The images are of an Akira class starship, NCC-11825, named - what else? - U.S.S. Perpetual.

Check out the images to enjoy the full-sized visions in all their glory.

Star Trek's a lot better than most of those cookie-cutter, same-same, reality tv things on all the time...

Sure's it's a very cerebral series but isn't the depth of thought something we need to improve in society today...

If my wife would let me play MMO's I would play this. We just finished watching TG and we are on season two of DS9.
