First details for the new DS Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo - Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu, have been revealed by Nintendo Japan.
One of the biggest new features is that you can actually make your own playable character. I guess this is the "Hero of Shadow" Intelligent Systems mentioned before. The story is reworked a bit to show how the custom character joins and interacts with Marth's army.
Other new features include:
- Four difficulty levels, from Normal to Lunatic, selectable at the start of a new game. In addition, gamers can opt to play in "Casual Mode," where you do not lose allied units permanently if they fall in battle. (There's also "Classic Mode" if you'd prefer to play Fire Emblem in the more traditional manner.)
- An in-game plot guide that lets you look up background information on the nations and characters that get involved in the story.
- A Wi-Fi online shop that lets you use the game's internal currency to purchase rare items.
Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo - Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu comes out in Japan on July 15th. No western release announced yet, but hopefully it'll get one.

It would be a waste of money to translate this game for the West if half the hard core fans have already downloaded it...:(
