The upshot for PC gamers here is that the Final Fantasy XIV trial period is being extended yet again to until Square Enix "are able to confidently present them [customers] a concrete plan outlining Final Fantasy XIV's new direction."
Outgoing producer Tanaka also apologized for their inability to immediately address user concerns regarding such things as UI design, tutorials, content, and the battle system. He noted, however, that "in many cases, addressing these issues will call for a reworking of game elements." That kinda makes it feel like it'll take a while.

I had ads enabled on all the news sites I visit including this one, but "WE WANT MORE AD IMPRESSIONS" thrown in my face like this is really not helping the situation.
