Disney has announced that a new Toy Story game will be hitting pretty much all major gaming platforms this June. The new game, called Toy Story 3: The Video Game, will tie in to Pixar's new Toy Story animated feature.

One of the game's most touted features is the Toy box mode. Available only in the home console versions, the Toy Box mode is an open-world sandbox where players are free to do what they want. In addition to the Toy Box mode, the console versions also has non-film related environments and situations such as light videogame combat with Buzz Lightyear.

"With Toy Story 3: The Video Game, audiences will have multiple ways to experience and enjoy the Toy Story world," said Craig Relyea, the senior vice president of global marketing at Disney Interactive Studios. "Story Mode follows the film’s story and adventures, while Toy Box Mode gets to the playful heart of the Toy Story franchise. By combining the power of imagination with the Toy Story universe, the game appeals to the joy of play in all of us."

Toy Story 3: The Video Game is slated for a June 15 release on DS, Wii, PSP, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. An iPhone and iPod Touch app that features trailers, a countdown clock, movie information, ticketing, and light games and activities is also in the works.

"light videogame combat"

Apparently a to-the-death Buzz-Woody cage match was too much to ask for.

Cage match should be at that car/truck like in the first movie :P

Hmm...Toy Story is no exception for movie producers to shoot for a game version. But I dunno, I loved the first one released back in the day for the Genesis and SNES and I thought the second one on the N64 and PS1 wasn't bad at all either.

We'll see how this one turns out!

I bet it wont be as fun as Toy Story for the Sega Genesis, or the one for playstation. Now those were great movie games, back when movie games had great re-play value.

The one for the first PlayStation was the best game ever! Collecting Pizza Planet Tokens was so awesome! Amazing levels! I even downloaded it to my PSP.
