1. European Parliament member calls for Mafia II ban
2. Take-Two's response

Alan Lewis, Take-Two's VP for corporate communications and public affairs, reiterated that the publisher stands behind its products.

"Mafia II tells a compelling story about organized crime in America -- a subject that for decades has been featured in award-winning movies, television shows and novels such as ‘The Godfather’ and ‘The Sopranos,’" he said.

"We fully and completely stand behind our creative teams and products, including Mafia II.”

If that sounds familiar, that may be because it's pretty much the exact same response that Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick gave UNICO back in August.

UNICO is an Italian American organization that sought to block Mafia II's release in the United States. Their efforts did not bear fruit, and Mafia II's strong subsequent sales eventually helped Take-Two shares rise during 2010.

It's always the games that they go for. Presumably because it's interactive?

I think it's because it's more mediatic nowadays than go against movies (which has become a chiché and the media no longer give attention).

Wow lady suck it up.Why doesn't she stop worrying about her problems and try to help poor countries like Africa. People alway think about themselves. If you had someone die because of any conflict, making a game to tell the story about is shouldn't be banned. The way I see it, is with 7 billion people on this planet, at least one person will be displeased with every single action. If we listen to the few instead of the majority we will never get any fun or move forward in all fields.

When I first read your comment, I thought, "what a dick". But you know what, I actually agree with you completely.

Games like GTA and the Call of Duty have been portraying events that are connected to grief on a massive scale for years now, yet when it suddenly became relevant to individuals with the Taliban in Medal of Honor, they were spouting all this BS about how it's insensitive, yet they were only going after that cause specifically and not violent gaming as a whole. Where do they get off suggesting that their sorrows are more real than the rest?

It's like campaigning to fix poverty... for a single child. It's bullshit.
