ESA implementing tighter restrictions for E3 attendees

e3floor The Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is considered to be the biggest show in the gaming industry. It's certainly a place you'd want to get into, but the thing is, it's only open to those who make games, sell them, work for them, or write about them. Sure enough, those who do not fall under any of the those have still found ways to get in. Starting this year, the ESA is taking steps to make sure they don't.

For the past few years, people have tapped the black market to acquire tickets into E3. These tickets, Gamasutra reported, can cost as much as US$ 700 in the underground trade.

Now, the event organizers at the ESA will be handing out press badges during the show itself, and initial entry will be given only to those who have a barcode that will be sent via email. It's not a fullproof measure, but it will certainly be able to deter much of the unwelcome guests.

Needless to say, E3 2011 will not be open to the public, so you're just gonna have to rely on the interwebs to give you your E3 goods. E3 2011 will be held from June 7th up to the 9th.

Good for you. Not everyone gets an invite. Most people have to register online:

Anyone can register but if you do not register as a company then your registration will get dropped. When you show up to the show to get your badge holder you must show two forms of ID. Usually your drivers license and other form of choice is usually a pay stub or a business card. For me it's easier to just photoshop an old pay stub.

E3 is the convention every gamer wants to attend, so why the hell shouldn't the public be allowed in even if tickets are outrageously-priced? That just shows how badly people want to be apart of the biggest gaming event of the year!! E3 looks like it's gonna die again... the interwebs is far from reliable too. Why watch hours and hours of E3 coverage when you could BE there?

E3 isn't E3 if you can't have your CONSUMERS test your products out...

A few years ago they did this, blocked off the public entirely, and that year's event was a total flop. Everybody thought that was the end of E3, but it seems that end will come next year.
