The rumors were true, apparently. D3 Publisher has confirmed Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon.
Insect Armageddon will have more of the third-person co-op bug-blasting action in earlier iterations, but Sandlot isn't helming development. That task has been handed to Dead Head Fred and Matt Hazard developer Vicious Cycle.
The Campaign mode will let up to three players team up and battle the insects and aliens across the completely destroyable city of New Detroit. In addition, the game has a six-player Survival mode that pits a human squad against a nonstop alien onslaught.
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon will launch in North America this spring on PS3 and Xbox 360.
