EA: We want to take back the FPS crown from Activision

Electronic Arts is all set to reclaim the long lost first-person shooter crown category, and is "not going to be happy" until they take the leadership back from Activision, the company's CEO John Riccitiello has revealed. Speaking at the recent EA quarterly results call to investors, Riccitiello said:

"We're not going to be happy until we've taken the leadership back in the first person shooter category."

"The tip of the spear is the combination of Battlefield: Bad Company and Medal of Honor. So we fully expect (Medal of Honor) to be a successful title this year. We're using a lot of the same technology between the two, the multiplayer game that is part of Medal of Honor this year is in fact built by our DICE Studio, which builds the Battlefield: Bad Company and Battlefield franchises for us. And we think it's a particularly strong title."

"So, we've made great strides with Battlefield: Bad Company, and we expect to make further strides with Medal of Honor, and we have strong plans for years to come. This is an important strategic priority inside of our company, taking market share precisely here."

Medal of Honor is scheduled to be released on October 12, 2010 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

personally I think they already have it with Bad Company 2.. love that game online, I put about 9 days on BC1 and I'm up to about 4.5 days on BC2 which is crazy cuz it hasnt been out as long as the first one.. so yeah and for MW2 I have about 2 hours of online play .. so you tell me what one is better

Modern Warfare 2. Don't get me wrong, I'm bored sick of that game, but it ticks all of the right boxes, whereas BC2 doesn't. Not for me anyway. Fingers crossed that MoH is any good.

with Respawn on their side, i wouldn't be surprised. But i doubt Respawn has time to start developing for this MOH, with all the Activision lawsuits and the fact that they're starting from zero. Maybe next MOH will be developed by Respawn, and i'm sure it will kick ass.

they want a medal of honor game of the year...i played the bad company 1 demo. it was pretty bad ass. the destructible environment was cool. i want to get bc2, heard it was great.

i dont think EA will have the title or *Crown* for long as COD games are being made. Its pretty hard to find ONE person who doesnt like any of the COD games imo. But Medal of Honor is a good series i remember how much fun i had being a 6 year old watching my dad play it on the ps2 XD.

Never liked a single one of the Call of Duty series, and I'm around gamers all the time who would agree to the statement as well. I did like the old Medal of Honor series, but as far as EA goes, hate them too. Valve holds the crown as far as I'm concerned.
