EA pulls Taliban from Medal of Honor multiplayer |
Listed in: PS3, Xbox 360, PC Gaming Tags: EA, Electronic Arts, Medal of Honor

The upcoming Medal of Honor reboot has been hit by a lot of flak over the decision to include the Taliban as a playable faction in the game's multiplayer component. EA stuck to their guns for a long time regarding the issue, but it seems the pressure has finally gotten to them.
On the game's official website, executive producer Greg Goodrich has announced that the Taliban are now longer part of Medal of Honor's multiplayer mode. Their virtual counterparts have now been renamed "Opposing Force" following comments from "friends and families of fallen soldiers who have expressed concern."
"We are making this change for the men and women serving in the military and for the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice - this franchise will never willfully disrespect, intentionally or otherwise, your memory and service," wrote Goodrich.
The whole Taliban debacle has led not only to criticism from government officials around the world but to the banning of the game from being sold on all US Military base worldwide.

But the same can be said about South Park's 201 it was completely censored and I hope it'll be released uncensored on the Blu-ray / DVD editions.

Taliban, Mujahadeen, Hezbollah, Iran's Republican Guard, Al Queda, etc etc.
The list goes on. USA pretty much made enemies with every terrorist group in the Middle East.

If you want to get technical, USA is the home of the most terrorist acts in Human History. Take a bite off of that one. Just read about Raegan/Nixon/Bush I & II, Kennedy, Clinton, etc. Best example would be Reagan-Nicaragua campaign. It is known around the world, except in the USA of course, that most American administrations have used their power to influence micro wars around the world to increase USA support back home or to boost profits on a certain commodity..hmm oil. They sent Black Op teams to kill off Democratically elected leaders in South America because they were giving the people power via Socialism. Of course the USA believes Socialism to be equal to Facism or Communism, but really the whole world uses a form of Socialism. Mdeicaid is a form of Socialism, Old Age Security is a form as well. Every industiralized nation has free health care for every citizen except for the good ol USofA. Just a campaign of misinformation in that great nation.

I'm fully aware of the examples you gave, by the way, and thanks for the (redundant) history lesson but that doesn't change the fact that the Nazis weren't terrorists, and the IPG weren't either. You say they were supplying the Taliban; maybe they were, maybe they weren't, but you can't be a terrorist through association, and even then I think you're forgetting the Taliban aren't terrorists either.
They are nationalists with a moral-code from the prehistoric era, and we invaded because they apparently had no qualms with Al Qaeda proliferating on Afghani territory when they were in power. We invade to stop Al Qaeda from gaining too much power, and now they hate the fact we're there protecting our own countries and they're attacking us in an effort to get us off "their soil".
It's messy, and it's ugly, but it ISN'T terrorism for god's sake.

Can't say the same for Resident Evil racism thing though. I think that was just BS.

those soldiers made the conscious decision to join the army knowing full well of the benefits and risks, the people getting mad (including the friends and families dead U.S. soldiers) are just racist hypocrites
these soldiers need to stop being glorified as hero's and shit, they are mindless zombies who sold their souls to be nothing more then a tool of the government, in hopes of surviving so that they get benefits from the government (which screws you in the end)
i am totally against violence and killing, but shit at least the taliban are fighting for something they believe in, what the fuck are U.S. soldiers fighting for in Iraq? material things?
it's unfair to only protect the feelings of one group of people, and disregard the others, members of taliban also have families and friends, if they take the taliban out of multiplayer, they need to take them completely out of the game, and put american soldiers as enemies as well as the "hero's"
don't get me wrong, im not a fan of terrorism or the taliban, but i'm also not a fuckin hypocrite

I've yet to see ONE statement made by a grieving friend/relative of a war casualty that wasn't self centred. I don't mean that in a demeaning way, and they have the right to be upset, because it obviously opens up wounds for them, but what makes the grief of the parents of dead soldiers any more legitimate from the grief expressed by relatives of men and women who died at the hand of mobsters? Of good police officers being shot by hooligans? Since when does sticking patriotic sentiment behind an argument automatically lend it complete validity?
At least EA wasn't trying to glorify the Taliban. Can't say the same for Mafia II.
Don't get me wrong, I love all of these games and am perfectly for freedom of speech, and I think people can decide what to play and watch for themselves yada yada yada... But I'm just sick of hearing the same bullshit arguments being made against MoH repeatedly, because these same people didn't even CARE about this until it became relevant to them.
I can respect people who argue against the glorification of violence and whatnot as a whole in the media having a problem with this, because that's morality based on principal, even if I don't actually agree with it, but all cases made against the series so far are just haphazard comments being pulled out of donkey arses at the last second because being politically correct, even when it conflicts with freedom of expression, just seems the thing to do.

EA has lost my respect even more now...

This is where you're wrong. The problem with the American government(my government) is that we get involved with other people's problems to much. I say fuck the other countries, let people starve to death, let people kill themselves and just focus on our own problems. This whole guardian-of-the world shit costing the U.S. money.

That's a pretty common misconception. There are a few key principals behind economical growth; production, trade and consumption. War provides a reason for billions of dollars to be poured into researching new technologies. It provides jobs across all spectrums. It produces goods, it allows the sale and use of these goods, and whenever we convenientyly happen to "help out" a country with massive oil reserves... We just take the opportunity to sneak in a few clauses during the construction of "their" new government that allows us pretty unreasonable access to their supply of oil.
Sure, war costs a lot of money. But ultimately, it makes so much more.

Do you lvie udner a rock? Thre is no "guardian of the world", or "guardian of peace"...blablabla...Is all about money and economic interests.. Keep the oil coming, and don't let them grow on the market, keep the things and politics on check so they can continue cutting the benefits, and writing the rules.
It's divide and conquer logic, and the peace and protect the innocent are just for the weak of mind that let corrupt media 's finger down their throat..
Welcome to the real world.

Why would we (americans, cause i'm american) choose to attack France? I could see maybe those other countries...it'd be stupid to attack them especially Saudi Arabia.

In CoD:WaW you can play as (and kill) Japanese people, last time I checked Japan was still a real country but they didn't pull it from the game.
Either it's all okay or none of it is. People are so stupid sometimes I get sick to my stomach. Realize that this, just like any other 'realism' war game has REAL enemies, and REAL allies.
They aren't glorifying the Taliban by making it a playable option in their cheesy, shitty reboot of a once good game.
Grow some balls or common sense, until then GTFO EA.
