If you've already finished playing through Dead Space 2's single player campaign, don't loan it out to your friends just yet. Developer Visceral Games and publisher Electronic Arts will be bringing you back to the Sprawl for a few more rounds of necromorph decapitation early next month.

As stated in a press release let loose by Electronic Arts today, Dead Space 2 will be getting the Dead Space 2: Severed downloadable expansion chapter come March. The DLC pack will first be released on Xbox Live and the U.S. PlayStation Network on March 1, 2011. It will become available on the European PlayStation Network the next day, March 2, 2011.

Players can purchase and download Dead Space 2: Severed for 560 MS Points through XBLA and US$ 6.99 through PSN.

Along with the announcement, Visceral and EA also released the first official gameplay trailer for Dead Space 2: Severed. Check it out below.

Dead Space 2: Severed will take players through the story story of Gabe Weller, who fans will remember from the Wii title, Dead Space: Extraction. As a security officer, Weller comes equipped with a one-of-a-kind security suit and an upgraded, more powerful Pulse Rifle that will help him deal with necromorph infestation on board the Sprawl.

Weller will be joined by his fellow Dead Space: Extraction character, Lexine Murdoch. Fans of the original Dead Space will also be treated to the return of the Twitchers, super-fast necromorphs that arose from infected Marines.

In addition, Visceral and EA have announced that players can now purchase and download the following suit and weapon packs for Dead Space 2 protagonist Isaac Clarke through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network:
