Did you think that just because Dead Space 2 is now out developer Visceral Games can rest easy? Far from it. They have DLC to work on!

The Dead Space 2 developer today announced Dead Space: Severed, a downloadable pack that extends the fight against the necromorphs with two standalone single-player chapters. Systems engineer turned PTSD-afflicted necromoprh bane Isaac Clarke won't be taking point this time, however.

In Severed, players will control Dead Space Extraction's Gabe Weller. Gabe, now working as a Sprawl security guard, must fight his own battle against the necromorphs and get both himself and fellow Extraction character Lexine Murdock to safety. Gabe and Lexine's story will run in parallel to Isaac's own.

Dead Space 2: Severed has yet to be given an official release date but Visceral say it will be available for download on PSN and Xbox Live soon.

Anyone remember the years when buying the game disc/cart meant getting a complete game?

I can only hope the companies will focus less on business, and more on creativity. If they do, more games can be released with a finished feel and coding bugs could be addressed, like the Other M door, or Tomb Raider Underworld Thailand pole jump.
