CoD: Black Ops Santa Monica party to feature Metallica, fundraising for Foundation |

See, it's not only a launch party for the game, it's also actually an event to honor the six branches of the Armed Forces, as well as raise US$ 1 million for The Call of Duty Endowment, which is a non-profit public benefit corporation founded by Activision Blizzard. What this foundation aims to accomplish is to help our soldiers by making their transition from leading military lives back into civilian lives be a bit more easier, thanks to jobs and careers on the ready.
Said Bobby Kotick of this event, "We are honored to have Metallica partner with us to pay tribute to the brave servicemen and women who have risked their lives at war only to return home to find their biggest challenge is searching for a job.Today the unemployment rate for veteran is 21% higher than the rate of all Americans, with veterans' unemployment topping 500,000. We believe that the business community can and should do more.Through The Call of Duty Endowment, we are committed to raising millions of dollars for job assistance and training programs for veterans and raising public awareness for this serious issue."
Giving back is always a nice thing, and with this gesture from Activision Blizzard, maybe it's time you guys see that there are some real and present issues that are being portrayed in the war games you play today. Here's Metallica's Hero of the Day music video. Just because it's apt for the event:
