We've already seen our fair share of top 10 games lists, heck, we even have our own. Sure, we always see those from gaming blogs and various game award-giving bodies, but what about a large news organization like CNN? Well, they have their own list too, as written by Scott Steinberg.

This list is comprised mainly of chart toppers and AAA hits. It'd be interesting to see how he justifies his selections, which is why I'll be including his short descriptions here.

1. Heavy Rain - "An interactive thriller that raises the bar for adventure gaming by injecting genuine choice and emotion into its suspenseful nonlinear narrative. It features storytelling that's every bit as gripping and cinematic as anything Hollywood produces."

2. Red Dead Redemption - "The game industry's equivalent of a Spaghetti Western, this sprawling open-world tale of outlaw justice wows with its atmospheric setting, wealth of play styles and gritty take on gunslinger culture."

3. Super Mario Galaxy 2 - "The cartoon Italian stallion rides high again, bounding about 3-D candy-colored worlds collecting coins, swiping power-ups and using dinosaur pal Yoshi's prehensile tongue to battle enemies. This is his best platform-hopping escapade since "Super Mario 64."

4. Mass Effect 2 - "An entire galaxy's worth of colorful characters, clever dialogue and gripping plotlines await in this futuristic role-playing odyssey, whose tale skillfully straddles the line between detailed stat-crunching and action-packed gunplay."

5. Rock Band 3 - "A high note for even the critically acclaimed music game franchise, this installment outdoes itself by introducing keyboards, more realistic instrument play and countless ways to live out your MTV fantasies."

Total911 I agree to some extent. Owner1, have you played Super Mario Galaxy? It is pretty amazing and I can't wait until Nintendo Wises up and makes an HD console. Out of all the Wii titles, the Nintendo ones are probably the best. They make the most out of the system, although, the system is not as good as I wished. I hope they make a new system soon that will show off power that will rival the next gen of XBOX and PlayStation. This gen however, Nintendo did innovate in making the Wiimote and Nunchuck controller(s). It really showed that the game can be more immersive but now Sony and Microsoft is catching up and giving a ton more options. Even Sony is offering 3D gaming that is very compelling. I can't wait until there is a normal medium of a 3D home system that all consoles use and that I can enjoy me some high def 3D F-Zero.
By the way. I like Mass Effect very much. I am glad BioWare took the obvious omission of a great space shooter RPG and ran with it and even more glad that Mass Effect 2 is now coming to the PS3. Mass Effect is proof of what the Wii is missing and I hope Nintendo makes a console for the hardcore Nintendo fans that made Nintendo what they are today. I also hope Nintendo thinks out what they will put on the Nintendo Shop Channel on the next console because they offer very little weekly compared to Microsoft and Sony.

ive never played starcraft before, but CoD is addicting as fuck! You can play all day in zombies and bearly get to round 50

how can a two rehash titels (Fifa 11 and CoD Black Ops) beat Reach's awesome campaign and multiplayer? this list is BS shame on you CNN

As a old fanatic adventure player,Im thinking in getting a ps3 just to play Heavy rain (and others exclusives of course),this marvelous adventure game.
