Castlevania: Lords of Shadow ships one million

Castlevania's next gen outing seems to have paid off as Konami revealed today that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has now moved one million units in the United States and Europe.

Developed by Mercury Steam in association with Kojima Productions Studio, the latest installment of the series has "quickly become a fan favorite with rich storytelling, innovative gameplay, intricate graphics and iconic voice acting by some of the world's most recognizable voice talents including Patrick Stewart, Robert Carlyle, Natasha McElhone and Jason Issacs."

"Castlevania has truly reinvented itself with its move to next gen platforms and we're extremely pleased at the positive response we've seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally, mainly due to the dedicated fans who have supported the series for so long," said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we're very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.'s most successful franchises."

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is still available for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game is scheduled to arrive in Japan this December.

I, for one, would love to see a sequel.

As for it being more challenging than GoW, I dunno. Sure the unblockable attacks are a bitch-and-a-thrid, but I don't think anything tops the ridiculousness near the end of GoW2. The walkway just before you fight Slitha is completely broken on Titan difficulty. The devs have admitted that all they did was scale up raw stats and did no playtesting to see if it was ok.

Granted, after hours of grinding away at it, successfully clearing that walkway was about the most accomplished I've felt playing a video game.

Yeah great game but Konami please get rid of the bugs and freezing up issues and what the heck is unhandled error junk? Sequel? If you will make a sequel add a better OST I thought the sound track was a disappointment! I mean where was the cool Castlevania music this wasn't even close to celebrating

There was a ton of great atmospheric music in this game. Themes like the ones found in games from a few generations back have little place in modern ones, unless they're throwbacks or remakes.

Honestly, we have to stop asking them to remake SotN in any way, shape, or form. Yeah, it's a great game, but if you want more of that, buy a PSP and get Dracula X Chronicles, or Buy a DS (or wait for the 3DS) and either Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, or Order of Ecclasia (highly recommended). These all have the kinds of catchy tunes you're looking for.

Got to say that i did not like it, Would have been 1,000,000,000 times better if it was a side scroller just updated to look good.
Just did not fill like Castlevania.
