lord-of-shadowCastlevania: Lords of Shadow is off to 3D land. Will it live up to the expectations of solid Castlevania fans? David Cox of Konami sits down with the Official Xbox Magazine UK to reveal the new gimmicks they've put up in place to appease the discriminating gamer.

Cox explains the new features of the game: "As you progress, you will learn new moves and combos. [You'll] upgrade the weapon to allow additional attacks and features. For example, you get a grip ability that allows you to latch on to scenery in the game and indeed on to enemies too."

He also explained that the game's new design will provide a more linear experience and are actually level-based. This is a step back in the direction of the original Castlevania games, as opposed to the Symphony of the Night iteration, where they opted to create an open world for more exploration. "Some levels are huge and offer multiple routes while others more 'go from A to B."

With Hideo Kojima at the helm of this new Castlevania project, it is unsurprising that people get high hopes for its success. It sure would be interesting to see if the team will deliver. The rest of the interview can be found in the source link below.

# Hideo Kojima?!?davidg 2009-12-03 23:33
I didn't know that, wow. I guess I'll buy the game then, lol. The last Castlevania I played more than 10 minutes was SOTN (I finished it contless times with Richter, Lucky, AxeArmor, etc, lol). But with Kojima in the dev section... Well, I suppose I'll have to buy this one.

I didn't know Hideo Kojima was involved.. This'll probably be really good, plot heavy with a nice blend of action

The Kojima name will no doubt stir people to look at the title more, but from what I read, Kojima has a very small role in the project. He's more an adviser than anything, he's got some say on how things end up, available for support and idea pass through, but isn't generally involved as a director, producer etc, of the content.

They are just name Dropping to stir up the masses. Odds are he didn't build anything from the ground up but instead gave directions to the team involved in order to make the game better. CastleVania games (well 3d ones anyway) have been poor as of late. After playing God of War 2 and watching Kratos Swing from pillars with the Blades it made me think for what a CastleVania Title with that engine would be like.. and i think that's what got to the execs at Konami. Either way I'm looking forward to this... I just hope it's not another CastleVania 64.....

Seeing as how SotN is by far the best in the series, this comment does not increase my anticipation of the title. Quite the opposite

And they just got Kojima to agree to attach his name to the game to get sales. He plays a very minimal role in its production
