oflcAustralians have long been fighting to get a mature 18+ rating implemented into their OFLC system, the lack of which has kept games with violent content from reaching the land down under. That fight has just taken a key victory now that their federal cabinet has approved the R18+ game rating.

 

They're not out of the woods yet, though. After the federal cabinet's approval, the task will be passed onto the Attorney General's office, who will have it on their agenda when their delegation meets up later this week. Hopefully, this meeting will arrive at a favorable decision for gamers in the country.

I find it deplorable that Australians allow their government to continue to censor their games/media unchallenged. They are destroying the creativity of the game creators and costing the freedom of speech for people as a whole. Shame on the Australian government for legalizing censorship, and for all their citizens who are fed up, take the time to rise up and voice your opinion.

Are your kidding me. We've been fighting for this to happen for a number of years now. We've had numerous petitions, the latest being one from EBGames (what you call gamestop). We have R18+ for movies, we should should have R18+ games as well. It is true that some of the games are censored, although most make it through the OFLC untouched and slapped with an MA15+ tag.
