With the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package set to arrive early this week on the Xbox 360, a lot of gamers are still raising their eyebrows with the hefty price tag of upcoming map pack. So what gives? Well, according to Infinity Ward’s community manager Robert Bowling, it's in fact Activision, not Infinity Ward, that set the price of the map pack:

All pricing is handled by Activision outside of Infinity Ward. We really focus on all the creative content and let them handle all the business.

When asked about the US$ 15 price tag of the DLC and going head-to-head with Battlefield: Bad Company 2's free DLC, Bowling said:

You know players will always react to any price that’s announced, but I think from a content standpoint, anyone who is playing Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer and is dedicating a lot of hours to it is definitely going to get their money’s worth from this map pack. This adds for some players hundreds and hundreds of hours of new gameplay to it, and on maps that have been proven to have a lot of mileage. I don’t think anyone who picks up this map pack is going to be disappointed with the purchase.

I’m a big fan of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and I’m excited for the new game modes on those maps. But yeah, we don’t expect other games to stop supporting their communities because we’re supporting ours. And we’re excited about the content we’re bringing to our guys and we know they’re going to be excited about it.

Scheduled to arrive on the Xbox 360 on March 30 and will soon hit the PS3 next April, the downloadable content features five multiplayer maps, including two classic maps from Call of Duty 4.

I'll buy it, even though i'll get pwnd. Happens when you dont play FPS games from the very beginning. *Or in veteran mode for that matter* :-?

I will
This may even be incentive enough to prestige.

*checks time played* O_O
ewww, but then again, I sure do love my bling ACR and upgraded perks, I don't think the extra custom class is really that worth it to go through all of this again.

MW2>BC2

All i see people do in BF multiplayer is camp vehicle spawn spots, where MW2 is chaotic and fast pace action.

BF:BC2>MW2

All I see in MW2 is camping and idiots who run out into the open begging to be shot.

All I see in BC2 is people finding a good sniping spot and doing what they would do in a real life situation, sitting there providing sniper support for their team on the field.

As for the team on the field, I see and do what many others do, storm a building, blow it up, run and hide behind things and then shoot till I don't know what's what and have fun.

BC2 is more realistic and fun than MW2 could ever be, yes this is personal opinion but let's be honest now, BC2 has more effort put into it and offers so much more than MW2 does.

Joycie=Spot on.

MW2= Nothing but camping and idiots running around blindly. The maps suck, the perks are unbalanced, and there is zero teamwork.

I know all you pot smoking, teenage, frat morons love all the weed refrences and rediculous perks that throw away teamwork... but try playing a game that takes skill, communication, and TACTICS. None of which are found in MW2, and all of which are at the center of BFBC2. :-*

"joint ops AHAHAHAHA" :-? :-|

I will not be buying the maps, the same as I did not buy Modern warfare 2 or 1 or any call of duty games. If I have to listen to a Modern Warfare conversation in work one more time, hey throw in the recent football scores as well then I'll kill myself. I appreciate the idea of generating extra revenue through downloadable content but a couple of map packs later and you've bought the game over again. Long live Infinity Ward's lost employees and let's hope they win their court case and bring down activision. I love the statement implying activision's attitide of 'well they'll like it and want it so of course they'll pay more.

you gotta admit call of duty world at war with nazi zombie was probably the only good call of duty game...aside from killing zombies by yourself it was playable onine with four players and the addons for zombie was pretty neat giving us a little effort in using things in the map like teleporters, and traps and a few extra weapons....

I'll buy them, mostly cuz I love Crash & Overgrown. The price does seem a little steep to me.. atleast Treyarch gave us zombies.

After all the hacking & glitching we've had to put up with it'd sure be nice to see Infinity Ward show some fan appreciation for the "Biggest Entertainment Launch of All-Time".

This will probably be the last CoD game I purchase.

# Why??Guest 2010-03-29 06:15
I'll tell you what is dumb about this addon, NO NEW SPEC-OPS. This is the dumbest concept yet, oh wow a few new maps and then ported ones from MW1. All that for a 15.00 price tag, you can go get a used copy of MW1 for around 15.00 at this point. Spec-ops addons are needed as they are a great co-op way to play the game, I'm lost why they never addon to games properly. Another waste!

Ok to be honest it both of their faults, map packs for WaW were like 10 bucks but they gave you like 2-3 maps and new zombie experience. for MW2 they are selling you 3 maps and 2 i dont give a rats ass about. if IW wanted to do something useful they should have replaced those MW1 maps with new ones and then we talk. I think its a cheap shot for IW to put the blame entirely on Activision, IW needed to put out more. the problem for me isnt much the price but what i am getting in return. Besides IW and Activision think this game is so great that people will pay anything for their dlc I WILL be one of the many to prove them wrong.

# and yet another star diesGuest 2010-03-29 13:14
Call of Duty is way overrated, i played it for a month and stopped because it was boring the hell out of me. I didnt even buy modern warfare 2 it was given to me for christmas. Ill never ever pay for a CoD ever, its a waste of money because its to overhyped and it doesnt hold much value to me. As for the dlc, they can take it, turn it sideways, and stick it in directly in their bleeding tacos. My copy of modern warfare is collecting alot of dust now but i dont feel no pity on it, i dont wanna insult my ps3 anymore by having it play that crap.
