Blizzard hiring console devs for Diablo III |
Listed in: PS3, Xbox 360 Tags: Blizzard, diablo 3, diablo iii

So pretty much every Diablo fan knows by now that Blizzard is making Diablo III for PC. Some job ads, however, seem to indicate that PC may not be the only platform they plan to release it on.
Blizzard is currently looking for a "lead designer, console," "lead programmer, console" and "senior producer, console". So, how does this translate to a "Diablo III on consoles" probability? All three positions are filed under Diablo III. The lead designer and programmer ads even mention that extensive knowledge of Diablo is a plus.
If it does come to pass, it won't be the first time a Diablo game ends up on a home console. The original PC game, which was released in 1997, eventually got ported to the Sony PlayStation a year later.

And my PC is running most recent games under the "lowest" settings, lol. I prefer consoles were everything is uniform.

A PC fanboy I see.
The kind of game diablo is, it would work fine on consoles. It's a little harder to do an RTS like starcraft on consoles, but D3 would port to a controller based system without a hitch.

Also, unlike D1 and D2, Diablo 3 is built to play much like WoW now, what with a skill bar. Something like this won't translate well to a controller unless you rig it similarly to Sacred 2, and even then, it's not a great system. It works, but it's not great.
It'll work on consoles sure, but the best experience is without a doubt still going to be on PC/Mac.
Also, if this is part of the reason D3 has been delayed, I am severely disappointed.

These types of games have never ported well and are cumbersome to play.
What I have noticed is that people who think it's 'just fine', have never played them on PC and have only played them on a console. Those people would be shocked if they ever jumped on a PC to play them.
It's certainly doable but like I said above, it'll suck and maybe I should have continued that thought with it'll suck compared to it's PC counterpart.

These games turned out very well on console. Even when quick swapping abilities. While the skill trees aren't as in depth as those on Diablo 2, the gameplay definitely isn't lacking and that's where you're coming from bashing consoles on doing games of this type.
Sacred 2 also works very well on consoles, infact, instead of using the Diablo style item management, the console version of Sacred 2 just has a certain amount of slots altogether and as long as you have enough slots you can hold the equipment. The face buttons plus L2/R2 to use your swaps is another really good way and Sacred 2 also plays very well on console. The only bad thing in the console versions of Sacred 2 are that while in towns it may ask to load a lot, especially the town a short ways after the "through the wall" quest(if you're playing the light quest.)
I play Diablo 2 on PC and while I can play Diablo 3 on PC, I would rather play it on console because as long as the developer does it good, like the Champions games, then it will work just as good as the PC game without *click click click click click click click click click click click click click click*

I guess we'll see...

As it was explained, it's been done in the past and it has sucked compared to PC controls. The experience is degraded on the console. That doesn't mean you can't play it. But for those with choice, my guess is, they prefer PC over console.

Having said that, I'm fine with a console version as long as each respective version of the game plays to each of their own strengths (i.e. the PC version makes full use of the mouse and keyboard.
