As expected, Activision Blizzard’s latest Call Of Duty installment, Call Of Duty: Black Ops, has taken the number one position in the UK sales chart this week. In a record-breaking fashion, Treyarch's shooter sequel debuts on top, selling an estimated 2 million units in just five days and generating around £81.9 million. Black Ops takes the title from previous record holder, Modern Warfare 2, which sold 1.8 million units and netted £67.4 million in revenue - up 13 per cent units.
Meanwhile, last week's number one, Football Manager 2011, drops to number five while FIFA 11 maintained its number two position. Rounding on the top five is Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 which moved up to the third spot ahead of Kinect Sports which debuted at number four. Here's the top ten list of titles from Chart-Track's all-platforms sales charts for the week ended November 13:
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
2. FIFA 11 (EA)
3. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)
4. Kinect Sports (Microsoft)
5. Football Manager 2011 (Sega)
6. Professor Layton And The Lost Future (Nintendo)
7. Fallout: New Vegas (Bethesda)
8. New Super Mario Bros (Wii)
9. The Sims 3 (EA)
10. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (LucasArts)

They look like a giant leap above the WW2 versions that I played before which weren't very good IMO.
The actual game/gameplay isn't my issue, its the piggy backing of propaganda onto it.
Which I admit will have no bearing on enjoying good gameplay for most people, but thats the insidiousness of it.
Millions of people will think they're just enjoying a fun game while they guilelessly absorb the world view and political agenda that is being purposely and subtly fed to them.
And its such an activision thing to do.
They're such a slimeball publisher that I hate to see them getting their hands on any big seller.
Which is the same way that I feel about kanye west and michael bay.

So, do you avoid all forms of media then? because this game is the last thing you have to worry about doing any of that.
No-one gives a shit about the single player (I assume thats where you mean) and theres no propaganda in the multiplayer unless you count the zombie nazis its just find, shoot and kill but I cant see how that would matter? the nazis have already had 60 odd years of propaganda, everybody already hates them and they're mostly dead now.
or are you suggesting that this is a big plan to get everyone ready for world war 3, maybe an alien attack that the governments know about??
also are you sure this isnt some sort of reflection thing? why are you smart enough to see and avoid it and everyone else isnt.. maybe you're just paranoid?
in anycase, Id worry more about the news, newspapers, movies and tv shows if I were you.

You probably wont like any of them then, unless your all about the way it looks. cod multiplayer has felt the same since the first game, there was just less bells and whistles and mutliplayer is why this game is popular. single player is just something to do when your internet connection is having a spaz out or you got to stoned and need a slower pace.
saying that, the treyarch games never seem to feel quite right in the normal multiplayer. maybe zombie nazis just over shadow it??

I totally agree to that. Whilst other media may subject the viewer to subtle political and economical agenda, video games are the least unlikely to do this as they are commonly set in unrealistic environments (Mario, sonic, crash bandicoot). However, modern warfare deals with "real world" scenarios and uses real political figures and so is likely (More than other games anyway) to inflict viewers with subtle propoganda.

That is also what infuriates me with the developers. Previous installments have created a multiplayer mechanic that works too brilliantly, leaving the developers in a "comfort zone" and may perhaps prevent further development due to fear of destroying it and creating a flop of game.
Although whether this is good or bad is debatable, its almost like 2 million+ players have paid for the same game but different textures. This is very much the reason why i have chosen not to buy it.
