BioWare announcing a Mass Effect for PS3 today?

We've heard rumors of a Mass Effect release for PS3 time and again, so I guess we shouldn't really surprised that another one is starting to pick up steam. What's different about it though is that it supposedly has a name -- Mass Effect: Genesis-- and that it's supposed to be announced at BioWare's Gamescom conference.

 

The Gamescom announcement is reportedly coming today from either developer BioWare or Publisher EA. Print and web announcements are also expected to commence in a few weeks.

 

The rumor apparently has its roots over at NeoGAF. It's supposedly a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 that should lay the groundwork for a multiplatform Mass Effect 3. Rumor also has it that the DLC released for Mass Effect 2 will be included in Genesis.

I hope that it includes Mass Effect 1 also. The whole "keep your characters from ME1" and "all your ME1 decisions affect ME2" will be pointless if they don't. Either way would be great if PS3 got Mass Effect in any shape or form.

That's what I think as well, plus the 'Genesis' name -- if that really is its name -- signifies a start. What kind of a start would it be without the first game, right? :lol:

EA making the series multiplatform makes sense too, since these games tend to cost a lot during production.

...confirm that Mass Effect 3 is on its way for a release to the PS3 platform as well. Whether it will be released later than the 360 version or not is another matter though.

And only confirmed once this information is confirmed by Bioware at Gamescom.
