The Bioshock series is going sky-bound as 2K and Irrational Games reveals Bioshock: Infinite, "an entirely new narrative experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky."

According to the press release, the game will be set in 1912 in a floating steampunk city named Columbia where you assume the role of a "former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities."

BioShock: Infinite is currently slated to arrive sometime in 2012 for the PS3, xbox 360 and PC..

yeah i was expecting something better than this.....like i dunno....bioshock 3?? more rapture?? another undiscovered area of rapture and another awesome adventure or something?? but this?? it doesn't seem like a city that can be related to rapture and whatever....i have yet to get bioshock 2 and i already beat bioshock plenty of times...but this won't feel the same

It looks incredible! Finally putting an end to the underwater concept. But it's gonna be a long wait, 2012, hmmmmm....

But it's not like there was much more to add to it without it seeming like it was being stretched too thin. Besides, that new steam-punk Big Daddy thing looked pretty awesome :)

Because this is set before bioshock 1 and 2, do you think it is going to explain how rapture ends up in the ocean?
i mean, a city falling from the sky, which could turn into a city under the ocean-
i personally think it could be pretty good...
i just hope they dont scrap plasmids,
it was one of my favorite parts of the game...

Rapture was built in the ocean. It didn't fall there.
