If you're loving the online play in Demon's Souls, then you're in for at least eight more months of killing and dying. Atlus has announced that they will continue online support for the PS3 exclusive until at least March 2011.

As part of the announcement, they're also making the game a bit more friendly to newcomers by shifting the game server's World Tendency to Pure White. The shift will also give veterans access to otherwise unreachable areas and items.

As it is - they will support it AT LEAST til 2011 March, which is good. Perhaps they will support it even longer.

However, it also rises some questions. Why would they shut down servers for a game released in 2009? There are games from 2005-2006 for consoles that still have servers running and will run for atleast 3-4 years more.

I get what you mean. It's both reassuring and a little bit scary.

It only got released in the EU last month - surely they can't turn it off as soon as March '11, hopefully it will be on alot longer.

the EU version is handled by Namco Bandai.. which is more reliable than Atlus. namco wont shut down the servers, since they are a big company. but Atlus will shut down North america servers, which is stupid, it should just get taken over by sony since its an exclusive.

I wounder if the game would have more followers if they release it for the 360, since its an online game.
