Apparently Cryptic Studios does have a new Neverwinter Nights game in the works, except there's no "Nights" in the title. Atari confirmed today that Neverwinter, an online co-op RPG, is currently slated for a 2011 release.

Neverwinter lets players choose from five D&D classes and team up with friends or AI-controlled allies to form five-man bands. Perhaps what's most interesting is that players can create their own storylines and quests with the game's content generation system, effectively turning you into the DM and the player at the same time.

Neverwinter is scheduled for a PC release in 2011. It also ties in to author R.A. Salvatore's new Neverwinter-based trilogy, with the first book providing the backstory for the PC game. You can check out the game's website here.

Never been good with online co-op. I tend to suck at helping others.

If Cryptic is handling this game, the game is most likely gonna fail hard. Their track record is 0 for 3 with their devs purposely and unethically lie to their customers in the past. Though Atari themselves is horrible these days anyways so it is no surprise. OH well.
