Atari 2600's Haunted House to open again

A lot of you may be too young (or not yet alive at all) to remember, but back in 1981, Atari released Haunted House, a survival-horror title for the Atari 2600. Nearly 30 years later, gaming has come very far from those days, so the Graves Mansion of old will open once again to try and scare you into your blankets again.

Haunted House rises from the dead this September as a downloadable for the Wii, PC, and Xbox 360.

Yup, I used to play that one a lot! Very fun game. But this new one doesn't look like it 'plays the same way' at all. They just made a new game and called it the same thing.

There's a screen shot about half way through were you see only his eyeballs. Then he lights something up. That's how the entire game used to be. The rest of the video shows the lights on all the time but at varying levels.

Looks interesting.

I played the original. it was really cool how you couldn't see anything at points and had to figure out where the walls and doors were. I'm not sure how you can do that with today's standards of gaming.

Outstanding! I remember this game when I was just a podling. Ahh the days of Atari, ColecoVision, Amiga, and the(gasp!)Tandy .

This looks like fun, and gives me hope that Atari will revisit some of their old IP's. Like say... oh I don't know.... Adventure!

What a poor title to re-make. The original game wasn't that great even by atari standards. I wouldn't expect too much from this.
