A Saudi Arabian national is being accused of plotting to bomb former US president George W. Bush's home in Texas. What does this have to do with video games? Absolutely nothing. Still, that didn't stop The New York Post from including the alleged bomber's pastime in their report, putting gaming in a bad light yet again.

re5

20-year-old Aldawarsi from Saudi Arabia is taking up chemical engineering at Lubbock's South Plains College. Authorities describe him to be a "Jihadist" and he's now facing charges for the attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. Aldawarsi came to the US in 2008 with a student's visa, but he allegedely took time to research a chemical-based, improvised explosive device (IED).

According to the Justice Department, Aldawarsi sent himself numerous emails which contained lists of possible targets - nuclear power plants, hydroelectric dams, and 12 reservoir dams located across California and Colorado. One alleged target was in an email with the subject "Tyrant's House" and contained the address of former president George W. Bush in Dallas, Texas.

So what does all this have anything to do with video games? Apparently, the most remote connection to gaming deserves some mention as soon as one commits a crime nowadays.

I read somewhere that the bomb plotter liked to brush his teeth every morning, too. This can only mean that Colgate is secretly duping the entire world into Jihad. It makes sense man.

Yeah, everyone who played RE wants to kill Bush. Every human being wants him dead, not just gamers..!! Plus this is classic media propaganda : something bad happens, video games are to be blamed. Give it up, you will NEVER STOP THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY because of crappy incidents like this happen to the US.

Propaganda implies that the media have political aspirations... but they don't. They're businesses that thrive on public attention, and nothing does that better than irrational fear. What else do you think keeps FOX News ticking? Legitimate stories? :D

Hah, Homeland Security are a joke. Created to protect Americans from terrorist threats, they're now busy working for Hollywood and taking down piracy websites... because, yaknow, they're a threat to national security. :zzz

Jihad doesn't mean war. It means struggle for survival. Just because this person could be a Muslim it doesn't suddenly make the religion Islam bad. I find it ironic that people who hate these people who are bombers which also happens to be Muslims thibk it suddenly makes the reiligion Islam bad. Sure it can be argued that you don't see other people from other religions as bomber BUT did you ever consider that the person may have gotten the wrong information? There are millions of Muslims around the world like me and yet some people accuse ALL Muslims yes ALL Muslims to be terrorits just because of a few individuals who are bombers. But then when a person who is a gamer or in this case watches other people play games people get blame the person not the game!? And yes people should NOT blame the game. But then why do they have to accuse Muslims of being terrorists? Just know this if an individual is a bomber it's the individuals fault, NOT the games he/she plays and NOT the religion he/she
practices.

Hi i so agree with you, im not a muslim but i know what Jihad really means, this is really sad, and right wing extremists are using it for their cause....

how can he put gamers in a bad light for trying to bomb George W Bush?

In my book that puts us in a great bright and good light, people who actually care what happens to the world.
But thats my two cents, hope homeland security doesnt travel to europe just because i said that to get my a** arrested. only in the US! priceless. doesnt mean that there are not good people in the US thought

Pfft what about all the heroes who save our cities from zombies every year? No mention of Resi affecting the public THEN, is there?

Anyway, "a lifetime in prison plus a fine of US$ 250,000".

If you're serving a lifetime in prison, why would you pay $250,000? You're in for life. Wut.

I blame all this terrorist activity on food... I'm 86% certain all these terrorists have ate food at 1 time in their life so there has to be a connection there somewhere.

That makes absolutely no sense, get it right...

It's down to having arms. Think about it, they all have them. I've been googling for a while now for armless people, and the only ones that are terrorists are the dead ones.

No No No it can't possibly be arms, you hear all the time about America and other countries selling Arms to terrorists, so unless i'm wrong there's some serious limb shortages in the Middle East.

Games are just a medium, like films and music. Military institutes have long been using song, poetry and film to advertise and glorify the military. That doesn't mean all of TV/literature/music is to blame... just the propaganda itself.

Honestly, if someone has trouble taking a step back to properly evaluate what it is they're soaking in, then sucks to be them.
