Age of Conan Preview From Funcom's Jorgen Tharaldsen |
them is Funcom's MMORPG Age of Conan. According to Mr. Jorgen
Tharaldsen, Funcom wants to give players a great
story experience and the chance to get a feel for the game (wow, I was
actually expecting something original). It will
also give the player a chance to learn the combat system and the world
around them. Like in every game, youÂ’ll begin in the lowest rank
possible, (that's the idea, self-development, hope my mom realizes the
good morals of RPG's, aside from blood, death, massacres...) this time,
players will start as a galley slave who washes up on shore of
an island. Four opening story arcs are available in this version. Now we all know that its quite common (getting sick of this
actually) for MMORPG to have character-creation features to personalize
each player, but in in this game, players can still
change the look of their character throughout the course of the game by
adding battle scars and tattoos. It's like you're character is actually
gaining "character" as the game progresses, how cool is that?
Still according to Mr. Tharaldsen, Funcom's goal is to create a
mature world for more mature players to explore. Savage combat is a
must for barbarian-related games. Game play includes "friendly" bar
brawling (with the savageness depending on the amount of alcohol your
character, or maybe even you, had), and full-scale
sieges against player-made fortresses. Aside from that, there will be
team vs. team and last man standing fighting features for short-term
game. The Border Kingdoms in Hyboria will set as a back drop for
players to build cities and fight each other in large scale battles.
True
to the Conan lore and creation of Robert E. Howard, many characters
from the Conan comics and movies will appear in the game. Funcom
collaborates with Paradox Entertainment, who owns the Conan
IP, to fuse great story elements to the game. Current storyline in the
world of Conan outside gaming is set to be merged with the game. With
all these developments, I wouldn't be surprised if people might start
wishing for Global meltdown to bring back the Ice Age, now that's
real-life barbarism.
