Obviously, nobody likes quitters -- especially not in an action-packed game requiring teamwork. Like Madden NFL 11. To those quitters out there who disrupt gamefolw, Ian Cumming's got a stern warning for you: "It's not gonna end well for you!"

The current system of Madden 11 essentially allows players to quit within the first half of the game without incurring a penalty of loss. Meanwhile, the one left in the game is left with no choice but to restart a new game as he does not even get the win automatically, or even just at least opt to play against the CPU so he could get the win.

According to Cummings, on his Twitter account, "Side note, we are getting close to a solution to the Madden quitters out there... it's not gonna end well for you! Will update more soon."

That exclamation mark does look ominous, doesn' it? Hopefully their banning system will be something that can really be enforced, and preferably, will come out soon.

More and more games have been implementing checks and balances within their games to ensure that their players are protected against the hassles of game quitters.

A ban for quiters? I think they shouldn't ban someone who quits games. Maybe that person likes to play games and doesn't want to quit but is forced to by a real world reason. Maybe they could have good match making stats in the game lobby that helps players choose who they best should play with like stats showing how many times someone quit, etc. Quiters should however get a stat showing a loss and people who were playing with the person who quit should get an appropriate stat for that type of game they were playing. Regardless of any quiting, the computer should temporarily take over the quiters place to finish the game and a stat marked showing that the win or loss was played with or against the cpu.

I think it's a great idea ... if you don't have time to play a full game or know you might have to leave in the middle of a game .... simple just don't play

i hope this system will be out for every game possible ... no more anoying stat checkers

I don't agree with YOU!

Fist of, it's just a fucking game... It's not the real world, and there are bigger things to worry about than GAME quitters!

Example... You plan for some time to have a whole evening set aside to play your favorite game, go online and play... Then the second ha
F comes home and is horny... Maybe some douchbag would stick to the game, but me, I'm getting some! Goodbye, loser gamers!

Or, same start to the gaming session and the kitchen catches fire... Hmmm, you going to keep gaming or are you going to drop that controller and grab the extinguisher under the sink?

Ther must be a million reasons, all MORE important than a stupid time wasted like a game to drop the controller... Ut, getting banned is outright stupid! Before you know it, the world will be full of banned former gamers and some dead losers in their mommies basements...

he didn't say it was gonna be a ban. actually, he hasn't said anything about what it will be. maybe a loss mark for the quitter? we'll just have to wait for further announcements.

The thing is, there are many ways in which a connection may fail. How they will know who is guilty of quitting and who has connection problems?

Not that I'm interested in Madden, but those words can carry to other games as well.

Same, I am not interested in NFL....but this is a problem that exists in basically every sports game, as well as a lot of fighting games.

There is no way to tell with 100% accuracy, whether someone's DC was legit or not. If they could tell whether it was a DC from the game being quit from the xmb, or powering off the PS3...people would just unplug their modems cuz they are that lame.

They need to let the opposition vote what they think...this way if you have a mic or are winning and have a legit DC your oppent has the chance to be good human and vote legit DC (ya right, I know :P)

Still I think I get legitimately dc'd from maybe 1 in 500 games (not madden, talking SF4,NHL2k9,Figh t Night), maybe less. So if they just give you a loss and you are not a quitter the stat won't effect you much...or you need to stop stealing the neighbours crappy wi-fi...

Agreed, I have a 3-4 record online right now because of this stupid quit before half rule. alot of people are idiots and think going for it on 4th down all the time is the way to win...if you can't get it on the first 3, don't try on 4th unless its short or the games on the line. I should be 10-4 but everytime I get up by 2 scores before half they quit, and to the people who are saying you donno how you can tell who quit and who d/c, you can defiantly tell. Usually people try to off the friendly quit and when its declined they just quit...or after you score and go up by 2-3 scores they just quit. Its not hard to tell who quits and who d/c.
