WoW mount and pet make millions for Blizzard in a day

Well aren't these pets hot items? Blizzard has reportedly made millions today alone thanks to the sale of World of Warcraft mounts and pets.

The Celestial Steed mount was priced at US$ 25 (€ 20), while the Lil' XT pet was priced at US$ 10 (€ 10). Pretty cheap, yes. But if you have tens of thousands of rabid fans lining up to procure these items, then what you get instead is one big heap of cash pile.

Doing simple math, if you multiply those prices by some 140,000 people wanting to get their hands on it, the result of the equation is one big fat paycheck for Blizzard -- somewhere around US$ 1.4 to US$ 3.5 million in revenue, to be precise. And that's just in a matter of hours, mind you.

So were you one of those people who made Blizzard happy today?

Pretty Cheap?! 25$ for a freaking mount is cheap? This sounds like the worst priced DLC I have ever seen for any game.

Consider that throwing money away.

If they enjoy it THAT much then it isn't throwing it away.

You pay $15 a month to play the game, it's because you like it and get enjoyment. What's wrong with enjoying a mount you payed for?

I agree. people already pay a subscription for the game they like. Why not pay more if you will get more enjoyment out of it?

ummm... What isnt wrong with it? Clearly there is an issue when someone is willing to throw away such an amount of cash only to isolate themselves to a game like WoW...

To be honest, WoW is waste of life and money. My friends all regret ever getting into it and are jealous that i never got sucked in. While they were gaming, i was going to school and going out with friends... But the fact that people will pay 25 bucks for a glass-like horse to ride ... is PATHETIC

# Only a matter of time...Guest 2010-04-16 11:51
Considering how many are being sold, this mount is only going to give you, what, 15min of fame and then be an eyesore later when every other player you know flaunts their "pimped out ride/pet" to you for the 3rd time, today.

The average amount of time a kid obsesses over his Christmas toy is about 3 days before he/she/it moves on to the next shiny new toy, I give this 3 weeks before people start clambering for something new.

For anyone who doesn't know why the mount is worth 25$. It is Account Bound which means any and all characters you have or will make will have this mount, and it scales with whatever riding skill you have in game so it never needs to be replaced.
