World of Warcraft fans are getting the last major content update before the Cataclysm expansion today. Patch 3.3, dubbed "Fall of the Lich King," brings in the new Icecrown Citadel raid dungeon, where players can man up and kick Arthas off of the Frozen Throne.

Also included in the patch are new Tier 10 armor sets, the legendary axe Shadowmourne, and a new map interface that shows objectives right on the world map screen itself. That should make it easier to keep track of the new weekly raids also being introduced in the patch.

Blizzard is also trying out a new scaling method to make boss fights easier for the less-than-hardcore. Lead systems designer Greg Street recently told 1Up that instead of just nerfing everything in sight, they've made it so that things will get more and more approachable progressively over time.

"So the really cutting edge guilds can get their day in the sun and get their server firsts, but then players who really just want to see the content will eventually get there before Cataclysm," he said.

You can check out a very in-depth look at patch 3.3's contents at the link below.
