Why do players choose Alliance as their WoW faction? |

Being a horde player in Blizzard's World of Warcraft, I was really intrigued by this thread on WoW forums asking why players rolled Alliance. To be honest, some of the answers surprised even cynical old me. Here's a list of answers that we found rather amusing.- I always roll human in any rpg. -Magicmissle
- Hey, I was young and naive, ok? -Aralon
- Because I'm a well-adjusted person who bathes regularly... which means I wouldn't fit in with the hordies. -Cartumandua
- Habit. -Peacenik

You forgot "can't handle moral ambiguity." Similar, but not quite the same as "I wanted to be good." -Talakara
Another interesting note is the concept of morality that came into play when choosing a character. Quite a few players decided to roll for that side because they believe that this is where the good guys are. A misconception if I do say so myself. Anyway, one answer I expected to find but wasn't there was the fact that one side or the other has more players. I don't know, but with all the complaints on ganking, I'd expect that some would choose their side based on that.
Based on the answers, choosing a faction for a lot of people is not about efficiency or which side is currently dominating. It's about having fun while playing the game.

At different points I've tried out a hordeling (usually when my server was down forcing me to use another) but it never felt right. In each case I could not embrace the darkside and it felt like I was an undercover spy for the Alliance. What would really be cool, considering Blizzard already has some in-disguise quests, is if the devs made it so that you could attack the opposing faction while disguised as one of them.
Now I know there's some little trinket that can disguise you as the opposing faction but apparently it leaves your name in red so you still get spotted. That's no fun. There should be a completely undetectable disguise that lets you walk right in as if you're one of them and kill. Oh and it should only be usable by Alliance players MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA HA!
