Spellborn: Character Statistics Revealed |
Ó

The producers of Spellborn have a target that they want - a character that is "easy to learn but hard to master." They build the system to attain that target and they've cut the main attributes into three namely Body, Mind and Focus. Each class will have its basic attribute: warriors for body, rogues for focus, and casters for mind.
Each class has its own specialization and although they retain this basic attribute, specialized classes has a second attribute that will differentiate them from each other. The warrior's specialized classes are the blood warrior (body+body), the furyhammer(body+focus), and the champion (body+mind). The caster's specialized classes are the rune mage (mind+body), the ancestral mage (mind+mind) and the oracle disciple (mind+focus). The rogue's specialized classes are the trickster (focus + body), the facedancer(focus+focus), and the dead hand(focus+mind). The second attribute has a bigger impact on a character's basic attribute value.
There are 2 kinds of resistances in the game, the attack resistance and the magic affinity. Again the attack resistance is still divided by three and those are the Melee, Magic and Ranged resistance. On the otherhand, magic affinity is also divided by three and those are Rune, Spirit and Soul affinity. Each character has 3 basic states that affect the character's performance; physique (run speed), morale (damage output) and concentration (attack speed). The Body attribute affects HP regen while Mind affects MP regeneration.
I'm curious to see on how well you can develop a character from this kind of character system. There are similar elements but I want to see how balanced each class will be and how each character grows as both a soloist and a group member.
