Silkroad Online - Latest On Weapons, Races and More |
Since its recent release, Silkroad Online (Joymax) has created quite a bit of buzz with its clever blend of the historical and the fantastical.
Silkroad Online reproduces the Silk Road and the world of the 7th Century C.E. The region's history and culture make up the background of the fantasy game. The cities in the game were carefully researched and documented. Joymax developers consulted with historians in order to recreate the 7th century era as accurately as possible; place-names are straight out of Central Asia. Places like Jangan, Donwhang Stone Cave entrances and Constantinople actually existed, and the similarity between the actual and virtual makes the player feel as if s/he has actually stepped back in history.
Added to the reality of the 7th century background are the mythological monsters that appear in mythology for the players to hunt and the quests from the stories to carry out. It is this blend of history and mythology that makes SO unique.
The Chinese utilize ‘Ki’ as the foundation to their three weapon
techniques, three major combat masteries, and one healing art.
Chinese players can select any skill they want, creating a unique character that is shaped by oneÂ’s own choices of skills to develop. Chinese
warriors employ ‘Ki’ in order to maximize humanity’s potential, using this in
battle.
In contrast, the Europeans emphasize “Mana” as the force within humanity and strength which is demonstrated in the distinct classes with unique specialties . European characters are of six distinct classes: the warrior, rogue, wizard, warlock, bard, and cleric. European classes complement each other quite well, and can exhibit great manifestations of power.
The Arabians will have the ability to summon djinns. The summoned "elemental spirits" will be able to battle an perform other feats of magic. Arabian characters will be able to use the sword, blade, claw and the chakoram as their weapons. The djinn will be able to train in the 4 attributes of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water.
This is only a taste of what lies in store for MMO gamers in the world of Silk Road Online - so if you're a history buff, or just curious, check it out. It might well be worth your while.
