Ryzom: "Bloom" before and after

Ever look over those "before and after" shots we always find in magazines? We're talking about the pics with all those ugly "Before" photos of our favorite celebrities in all their wrinkled, pockmarked, pot-bellied glory, followed by gorgeous computer-edited "After" pics of them after they apparently endorsed some new diet plan or food (Thanks, Mega-shake!)?

Celebrity intrigue aside, Ryzom.com just posted some new Ryzom pics demonstrating an option they're planning to release along with the Advanced Test Server being launched this month. Dubbed the "Bloom" effect, this option blurs the game ever-so-slightly to help fix up the in-game shade effects, making for a smoother and more organic look. Remember - there are no straight lines in nature.

The devs say that you can adjust Bloom intensity by a slider bar. Don't take our word for it, though. Up ahead are three pics with various levels of "Bloom" in effect. From left to right: Low Bloom with Squarefilter on,  Max Bloom with Squarefilter,  and Max Bloom with no Squarefilter.
