In Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa, no single class can deal as much damage with a wide area of effect like the Demolitionist. These specialists can take out specific targets with their explosives or simply level an entire area if the situation calls for it.
The Demolitionist comes in three configurations: Mech Armor, Motor Assist Armor, and Hazmat. It also has its own class weapon called the Polarity Gun and a Class special ability called the Explosive Wave.
The Mech Armor would probably be the suit of choice when assaulting a bunker of entrenched Bane. The suit offers its users Power Regeneration as well as better armor stats. With those advantages comes a problem, however, as this is the slowest configuration among all the three.
The Motor Assist Armor on the other hand is perfect for those times when you have to get sneaky. It provides a speed increase as well as decent armor protection. Accordingly, this configuration is very flexible and is good for either PvP or PvE combat.
The last configuration, and the most specialized among the three, is called the Hazmat. It has a pretty good set of resistances including Electricity, Fire, Ice, and Virulent. This seems like the perfect suit to use in PvP since other players tend to use different kinds of damage unlike the Bane.
Another advantage the Demolitionist has is the Polarity gun. While it takes a lot of skill to use, mastering this is an easy way to get kills in both PvE and PvP. When this gun is fired, it creates a pathway between the weapon and the target. The longer the pathway is connected, the more damage is dealt to the target.
Finally, we have the class special ability called the Explosion Wave. This ability can be devastating to the opponents as it delivers a huge amount of electric damage over a wide area.
It also has the benefit of knocking enemies away allowing your character a clear avenue of escape. Don't expect to spam this ability though since it uses up a full level of adrenaline.
All in all, the Demolitionist seems like a pretty solid choice for either PvP or PvE. It has a good balance of skills and abilities and is versatile enough to be a burst damage dealer or a tank.
However, it might not be a good character for newer players since it takes a lot of planning and experience to properly customize your load-out for the specific mission.
