Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, quick vocation guide

Reminiscent of the World of Warcraft professions, we have The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (LOTRO) vocations which will allow characters to craft their own items. Everyone knows if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself, so we here at QJ have a basic guide for beginners to help them choose the right vocation for them.

To start, you will have to find a Master or Mistress of Apprentices. You can't learn how to start tanning hides without someone teaching you right? So here's a list of the towns where you can find the Masters and Mistresses:

• The Shire
• Michel Delving: Blossom Proudfoot, Mistress of Apprentices
• Bree-land
• Combe: Jill Brushwood, Mistress of Apprentices
• Bree-town Crafting Hall: Old Roger Sorrel, Master of Apprentices
• Ered Luin
• Gondamon: Alfwin, Master of Apprentices
• Celondim: Golphedinir, Master of Apprentices
• ThorinÂ’s Hall: Nási, Master of Apprentices

After you've talked to them, you will have to select a vocation, each with three professions, or sub-specializations within it. Choose carefully, although you will be able to change vocations in the future, you will lose all the skill points you put in each skill unless that skill is also found in the vocation you are changing to. To help you out, here's a quick list of each vocation and the professions that are found under them.

After picking your vocation, it's time to find a provisioner for any of your professions to purchase the necessary items required by your profession. It should not be too hard to find provisioners as they are usually near the Master or Mistress of Apprentices. Some of the rarer items can only be gotten by questing or trading with other players.

As you use your skills, you will become more proficient with them allowing you to advance through the ranks. Below is a list of the ranks you will go through (in order) as you advance:

• Apprentice
• Journeyman
• Expert
• Artisan
• Master

You earn experience points for a profession by crafting, however, to reach the next level you will have to do crafting quests. Once you reach Master (the highest you can go) you can use the Mastery Options to give you greater chances of hitting a "Critical Success" in your work. Good luck and happy crafting.
