FFXI Beta Players Have 13 Days Left

According to 1up, the Final Fantasy XI beta for the Xbox 360 will end on April 2, leaving just under two weeks of free play from today before they have to think about paying the subscription fee or not. The retail release of the game isn't until April 17th.

Unlike in many previous MMOs, the characters created during the FFXI beta will transfer straight across to the retail version of the game, presumably thanks to the game's established release on other platforms. Although further MMOs could be in the pipeline for Xbox Live, FFXI remains the only massively multiplayer title on the Xbox 360 platform in the immediate future.

its a shame with games like this cause it would probably be fun for me and my friends to play but i would never play it simply cause its a rip off... if it was £5 a month then sure but... from what i hear.. its gonna cost like £11 a month (19 dollars) no way, i wouldnt pay 11 quid a month for any game, companies are greedy and they push away customers when they do this, im not poor or anything, hell iv got a nice big hdtv and 5.1 system for my 360 to have fun with, but i dont consider this fair at all.. its bleedin robbery! loads of online games charge this much... warcraft thats £11 a month aint it? ...annoys the hell outta me

Like Arkz said, Guild Wars is 100% free online, and it is a damn good MMORPG, just look at all the awards it won. The community is huge, because without that monthly fee they were able to draw a crowd of people that didnt want to pay monthly fees on a game. NCSOFT gives the community tons of updates and constantly makes gameplay better by fixing bugs and adding new missions and content. Why pay the $15 a month for WOW when you can play Guild Wars for free.

I personally think that free MMO is the future of MMO. If a game as good as Guild Wars can do it, why cant the rest? Their is no way WOW needs all that money...add it up, it is a crazy ammount. 15$ times 6 million subscribers? Thats 90 Million dollars...a MONTH. Absolutely rediculous. If someone can explain why they need that much money to run an MMO, the please tell me.
