Codemasters Online: APB could be turned around in 9 months' time

A few months back, we saw the unfortunate demise of All Points Bulletin (APB). While it seemed then that there is no point of return for it, we're now hearing word that there could be a slim chance for things to be turned around. By slim chance, we mean some nine months of concentrated work for its rehabilitation.

Codemasters Online general manager David Solari expressed his opinion that while key mistakes were made during the first lifetime of APB, there's still a good chance it might be revived. "[Realtime Worlds] made some key mistakes there. With some key stuff changed that game could be successful."

"Somebody will... If they don't pick up the game then they will pick up the technology for sure, because the avatar and character customization technology is incredible. Something will definitely be done to preserve that.

I do think the game could be turned around but it would need nine months of hard work. That game could have been successful but the cost of development and everything else was huge. The money it had to make to support that was very high risk. If you could take a smaller team and make all the fixes and operate at a lower cost then it's fairly unique; there's not really anything else in the market out there."

If you're suspecting, however, that Codemasters Online will be the one picking up on APB, you're barking up the wrong tree. "We have not picked up APB," Solari clarified. "I can answer you definitevely, we haven't picked that up."

Apart from Codemasters Online, Epic Games was also rumored back in September to be interested in cleaning up the APB mess.
