The infamous iPhone hacker iH8sn0w is at it again, releasing a new version of his PwnageTool for Windows, sn0wbreeze, now capable of jailbreaking the iPhone 3GS ( New bootrom) and iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.1.

Developer's note:

sn0wbreeze is a tool for Windows that will jailbreak your iPods and iPhones, setup custom boot logos, activate your iPhone, root partition size, build custom IPSW, and more!

Sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 supports the following devices:

iPod Touch 1G : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.
iPod Touch 2G (MB) : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.
iPod Touch 2G (MC) : Must be on iOS 3.1.2, no jailbreak needed.
iPod Touch 3G : Must be jailbroken on iOS 3.1.2
iPod Touch 4 : Will not work, wait for GreenPois0n jailbreak
iPhone 2G : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.
iPhone 3G : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version.
iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) : Must be Jailbroken on any previous iOS version. (If you are in old bootrom on Spirit or JailbreakMe, use Spirit2Pwn from http://repo.woowiz.net Cydia repo)
iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) : Must be jailbroken on iOS 3.1.2
iPhone 4 : Will not work, wait for GreenPois0n jailbreak

a while back, the dev team said that they found an exploit that can't be fix by a software update, meaning that all current devices are pwnable for life. Geohot knew about this exploit and was able to pwn the ipad on day 1, but he has left the scene. That aside, it's not pointless, it helps 3G users who have ios4 who has suffered from a drop in response time with their devices. My 3G is much faster now because of this update. As for 4.2, it will probably be jailbroken too....not that it really needs to be since most things that apple are including now in their updates have been around for jailbreakers for a while

Well, it's a PITA for me to update because I have so much stuff. I would never go through all of this for 4.1 just to do it again two months later for 4.2. Ugh, too much work!

How do i know which bootrom is old or new? What if it is a 3gs 3.1.3. Jailbroken w/ spirit.
