Cookmate - your iPhone cooking mate

When your lady tells you it ain't easy thinking up stuff to cook for dinner, she's right. Anyone who has ever faced the prospect of cooking for two or for a group must have had the dilemma of answering this simple question: "What's for dinner?" Well, this might help you our your ladies out - it's Cookmate, a simple iPhone app that will help you figure out what to do with the stuff you have in your fridge.

Let's face it, ordering out every night can get a little pricey, and the fridge already smells funny because of all the spoiled Chinese food that's still in the little boxes. For those looking for a menu that doesn't involve takeout, Cookmate can hook you up.

First, you gotta tell the app all the ingredients you already have. In case you're fresh out, it has a grocery list function that'll help you get what you need. It then finds you recipes that you can actually cook based on the ingredients you already have. The app also features user-based ratings for each recipe it suggests, just so you know which kitchen adventures went well and which ones ended up as leftovers.

Care to give this a try? It's currently available at US$ 1.99 in the App Store.
