Ron Jeremy says videogames are worse than porn

ron1 In case you're not aware, CES isn't the only show in Vegas this past weekend, it also hosted the Adult Entertainment Expo. One of the highlights of the said event is a panel discussion on the influences of pornography in the age of the internet.

According to Ron Jeremy, you know the "legendary adult star" who once played Mario in a porno parody of Super Mario Bros., he says that videogames were a far worse influence on kids than porn.

He stated that the porn industry only caters to the over-18 crowd. "We don't want kids to watch porn," he told the crowd. Though if they do, he added, there are far worse influences out there, like video games. "[Studies have] found that violent video games are much bigger a negative influence on kids."

I think the only reason why VideoGames are a "Bit" bad influence to children is because they Buy games without knowing of the rating. Thats how kids end up with playing GTA, COD, KILLZONE, L4D, etc..etc...

Even so, VideoGames aren't bad at all, it can teach you some stuff like other results have shown.

Video-Games = Team Work, improved math, reading, technology and solving-skills etc...etc.. as well "FINE MOTOR SKILLS, HAND-EYE CO-ORDINATION" ETC..

lolz. Look it up on google. see the facts.

What does Porn has to give that is good? Well if your a business owner of porn well yea you get billions of dollars, but outside of that what is it good for? Gettin some fun-time? oh wow, grow up and get into the real world. You won't need porn at all, once you have fiancee or fiance (in case your a girl) Obviously you know why.

I play videogames to get away from real life. because lets face it, life is a bitch, and if you dont find a way to let some steam off then it makes you crazy...i also dont think that people should look at any form of art/ entertainment as a "bad influence". Its the parents fault for letting their kids play rated M games, or watch porn.

I agree with this man who used to be able to kiss his own peepee. Violent video games I think are much worse than porn. Porn doesn't really harm anyone (normal porn) .. Seeing two people banging only makes people wanna do it. I think the order should be violent movies > violent games > Dora > porn.

I think Ron is just trying to shift the blame while the heats on video games. Porn is no different from violent games its all up to the person that views it. Just like someone unstable playing a violent game you'd get the same results if they watched Hardcore porn. Even if you blamed Violent games you'd have to blame the company that created not Video Games in general as no all games are violent.

certain studies show that having sexual intercourse near the child in the early stages of it's life is beneficial to the child's sexual development later on.

like that it's normal to have sex. which it is.
porn is of course not normal in some cases, but calling it scarring is a bit conservative. unless we are talking about 1guy1cup type stuff, which is quite shocking even for an adult.

especially men are naturally violent. boys love to play fight, or shoot. we watch sports which are a competition of human strength, we fight wars, we fight with each other, and in some way this all gives us enjoyment (some more than others). Mankind has been at war since we were created, its in our blood. Videogames at least create a way for us to express our violence toward something virtual.

lol.Obesity is the number one problem in America. Ron Jeremy is right though. I've seen my nephews go crazy after playing video games but I believe that's because they are too young for it. Video games should only be for people that know what reality is from virtual. So legalize marijuana and reduce crime.

i guess like games, it depends on what porn you're talking about, how old the kid is, and whether he or she is able to mentally process whats going on.

it's not exactly a cut and dry topic.

certain games should not be in the hands of kids as certain movies shouldn't be either, whether they be violent videos or pornographic.

I honestly have to say that I think video games are worse for kids, but you also gotta consider that pornography isn't at all catered to kids. That means of course video games are going to have a worse effect on them; they're way more exposed to it. It's like comparing lifetime smoking to a puff of marijuana. But aside from that, pornography would probably get kids to ask questions and stuff. Videogames, can do that, but more often than not, they doesn't. I'm just speaking for the more popular games. I know there are a lot of fun family and clever games, but those go largely unnoticed by the media and the masses. Iono, just a [sorta] quick thought.

I think that parent misinformation is the key here. A lot of parents(especia lly old ones) think that games are for kids, and that all games are about jumping and chasing coins(yeah you know, the ones that think that every console ever made is called nintendo and that every character that moves on the screen is called Mario). Others think that games make excellent "babysitters"(the ones that think that games make the little "demons" stay freaking quiet until they break the sh!t out of their controllers). I've seldom seen a parent asking the store clerk about game ratings and violence. It's all about the little brat telling his mom to buy that "soldier game", and the mom asking "how much is it?"... after the clerk repeats for the 10th time that the game is not for kids(that is if the clerk actually cares or don't want to get sued). So the next time you get "surprised" watching your 10year old playing mw2 and swearing in the mic while using an M4 and spraying bullets all over the place, stop asking yourself how violent video games have become, and ask yourself why are you letting the little brat play such games in the first place.

Anyway, by the way its going, I see M games being located in the back of the store. That may not be a bad thing but then the focus would be from violent video games to people older than 18 buying then giving M games to kids.

They do that now, so no matter what happens, special interest groups and intrusive people will still complain. The problem just needs to be considered by the parents, not the government. If the child turns violent later in life then the kid will be in jail, and it will be the parents fault. The simple answer to this debate is the parents.

There are a good amount of porn sites that ask you if you're 18+ and nothing more. If you click on the 18+ link, you go right into the site so young kids can get into porn sites easily.

To me, Ron Jeremy is trying to shift the blame the porn gets onto video games.

He's trying to make porn look good and make video games look blind.

Porn... an industry of adults consenting due to financial gain, usually a drug user and/or mental health problems. I really wouldn't want my kids watching that.

They say that porn should be viewable at a young age because it shows love and such, except it doesn't. It shows somebody working attempting to emulate the physical act of love. Bleh!

I find this hilarious. I am a bio-medical engineer and spend a reasonable amount of my free time keeping up on the latest research on matters relating to the human mind and body.

First of all, videogames have been correlated with long term violent behavior, they have been corresponded. The difference is huge.

Second, the 'violence' was actually supposedly proven by teaching children to punch those blow up doll things designed for punching, and amazing enough the kids found punching it to be fun. Shocking that a product known to have been a successful seller before the 'research' started did exactly what we would expect... In fact, research coming from a few professors (I can't remember the exact university) in Texas have in fact shown a very strong correspondence between the playing of violent video games and REDUCED long term violent behavior.

Third, video games have been shown to be correlated to only temporary mood changes, no different than those caused by elevated adrenaline and other hormones found from any other exciting activity though.

Fourth, video games have been shown to have an extremely wide range of benefits (when played for reasonable amounts of time of course), and have in fact been a very large driving force in advancing the modern world of technology. Simply look at nVidia's Tesla processors today used to drastically reduce the cost of medical research among other uses, developed only because of the breakthroughs made developing gaming hardware.

Finally, extreme-hardcore porn and rape have actually shown a correlation in studies done in Japan. Lighter-core porn has however not been affiliated in any way with deviant behavior.

Videogames, are covert situations where children play in a mental situation. Watching porn arrouses, yes, so does watching Rapper Videoclips, still the porn video doesn't pretend it is normal and it is always a bit....not normal (if your parents raise you right). The clips are shown that if you want girls to behave like whores, just think your are famous and they do....and then what if they don't? You rape, beat them, become criminal by desillusion? Where does that happen watching porn? sure it will happen, that stuff is so badly acted (because it is supposed to be about consumation), that it doesn't strike home, like Mario didn't years ago, but Quake did.

Kids will, and do, watch both, whatever we do to stop them.

I have a son and a daughter, and as they get older I would rather they screwed around than went kicking ppl to death.

Of course I would rather they did neither but lets face it, it's gonna be one or other.
