PS3 is year's best platform, Wii the worst according to Metacritic |

Although the Wii and DS do have their own stable of worthwhile releases this year, the sheer number of shovelware titles have taken their toll. Review scores for games from both platforms have conspired to turn them into the year's worst platforms in the eyes of review aggregator Metacritic.
Of the 362 Wii games released in the period spanning January 1, 2009, to December 7, 2009, only one managed to get a score of above 90 (which is considered "Great") -- the superb Metroid Prime Trilogy. On the DS, two got a score of 90 and above. The highest ranker was Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars with 93, followed by Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story with a Metascore of 91. The PSP only had one game considered "Great" compared to the DS' three, but the number of "Good" games on the platform pulled it ahead of the Nintendo handheld.
On the flip side of the coin, Sony's PS3 console emerged as the year's best. The PS3 had the most number of games with Metascores of 90 and above (ten), while the PC and Xbox 360 platforms followed closely with 7 each. The PS3 also got the top three best-reviewed games of any platform. In order, these were Uncharted 2: Among Theives, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Street Fighter IV.

PS3 had some awesome stuff this year.
DS had a great year and the PSP was ok.

Dude that wont happen cause of the simple fact that Nintendo fucked up their console. Seriously do you remember the GameCube? now that was quality gaming system and instead they went down with this hunk of chunk. The majority of the people buying the Wii are adults that don't care much for gaming and little kids which when they get older they'll want something more serious like the 360 or PS3. If anything the Wii is just going to drop in the long run...I'm not putting down Nintendo but they created the GameCube which surpassed the PS2 in graphics.

FYI, the Wii IS the gamecube, with DVDs instead of mini disks. Itis a last gene system with bigger disks and motion controllers, and like others said, it is mainly for adults and young children.
Don't get me wrong, if there hadn't been children systems when I grew up I never would have gotten into video games, so bless the gameboy and SNES/NES.
Personally if i was nintendo I would focus on action platformers, puzzle centered, and maybe some kiddie shooters... Lego: Call of Duty, blocks at war

But the realy deal for sony is clearly 2010, with ALL it's big names exclusives coming down in stores around march to next summer (White knight chronicles, heavy rain, god of war 3, gran turismo). And even without the exclusives, it will be a great year for sony. For an exemple, FF13 will surely sells PS3s like hell in Japan, and the PS3 version of Final Fantasy will surely outsell the xbox 360 version by a big margin (Most xbox gamers think final fantasy is an RPG like baldur's gates or oblivion... they mostly never played a single JRPG before..), and this is even bigger in Japan (Will FF13 have an xbox 360 version for japan?).
Anyway, I'm not selling my xbox 360 yet since I'm sure we'll see few more great titles for it, surely from Mistwalker.

Sorry but the gamecube had lame graphics. I had both consoles, try player Kingdom Hearts 2 on PS2

Don't count on it. Yeah, the Wii will have a couple great games, but all the major AAA games will be on PS3 and 360. It's sad, but true. The only way the Wii could come out on top is if they only released the good games and forgot about the shitware the Wii is notorious for.

360 had Halo 3 ODST, Modern Warfare 2, Star Ocean 4 and some multi-platform titles.
PS3 had Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of War Collection, and some others.
As for portables, I would have been happy if all I got were Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier, Kingdom Hearts, DJ Max Fever, and Disgaea 2.

And i wouldn't count out FXIII out either, alot of 360 owners were formerly ps2 owners, and i know a lot that have the psp. They know FF. The only reason why ps3 version would be better is because of japan not allowing a 360 version there)
