hadoukenStreet Fighter IV had a PC version and it sold well. But despite its success on the platform, it was also one of the most pirated. Because of that, Yoshinori Ono put copyright protection first and decided it might be better for Super Street Fighter IV to stay away from PCs, at least for now.

In an interview with Japanese site 4gamer, Ono explained that they're not releasing the game for the PC mainly because it may end up widely pirated like its predecessor. Piracy was so bad that it was even possible to consider Street Fighter IV a "free" game, Ono said.

Ono isn't closing any doors, though. A PC version may still be released, though that's not currently in their plans.

I dont think that piracy is the main problem in this game, the thing is that PC user has more freedom, and intead of buying DLC, PC user can have free skins via mods, i guess CAPCOM dont like that, since they want people to buy ther DLC skins.

But those are rip off, so i'll stay with the skins mods

its way easier to pirate games on pc you just download them thats it, no burning no installing a mod or any jailbreaking. a lot of games aren't made for pc for this reason.

I fucking hate this excuse. ALL the consoles have piracy now, and games on them are ALL still successful (granted, its too early to really say on the PS3). I'm not saying piracy is acceptable, but this is just horrible reasoning.

it could have high piracy since it used securom and GFWL so u had to crack it to make it work. it also came out way late and was leaked pre launch but i still see more 360 downnloads than pc on torrent sites

Time to add the PS3 to the list that is hacked so bad that you can get DLC for free something that the xbox360 can't even do (unless you happen to be the 2% that has a Jtaged xbox 360)...

Capcom is the biggest company who afraid of "piracy" where in they almost completely abandoned the western market for PSP now seeing this news they starting to abandon the PC format too.

The only platform they still releasing games for the western market are PS3, Xbox360, and NDS, where piracy on Xbox360 and NDS is bad.

This would be like the CEO of Wal-Mart coming out and saying that since people steal millions of dollars of merch a year, they are going to close all Wal-Mart stores and not make billions in profit.

Facts PC developers still won't recognize after 30 years:

1. Nobody wants to buy DRM ridden crap. DRM only pushes people toward piracy.

2. Piracy exists. From before the Commodore 64 all the way to the 360, the PS3, the PSP, the NDS, PC computers, and Macintosh computers. This is why they need to produce games that people MUST HAVE instead of squeezing half-finished crap that is 'good enough' through to market.

"Street Fighter IV had a PC version and it sold well."

"Piracy was so bad that it was even possible to consider Street Fighter IV a "free" game, Ono said."

So Capcom sold millions of copies of SF4 for PC, but they consider it a free game?
